Abstract:
This invention relates to a method for treating industrial waste solutions containing nonbiodegradable organic pesticides which comprises saturating the solution with oxygen and then irradiating the pressurized solution until the pesticide has been decomposed into nontoxic constituents to that degree required for safe disposal.
Abstract:
THE PRESENT INVENTION RELATES TO A METHOD OF INCREASING THE LIGHT TRANSPARENCY AND REDUCING THE BIOLOGICAL OXYGEN DEMAND OF ORGANIC-CONTAINING WASTE SOLUTIONS WHICH COMPRISES THE STEP OF EXPOSING SUCH SOLUTIONS TO PENETRATING IONIZING RADIATION UNDER PRESSURE OF AN OXYGEN-CONTAINING ATMOSPHERE OF AT LEAST 1000 P.S.I. UNTIL THE DESIRED DEGREE OF OPTICAL AND ULTRAVIOLET TRANSMITTANCY AS WELL AS BIOLOGICAL OXYGEN DEMAND HAVE BEEN REACHED.
Abstract:
This invention relates to a method for converting cyclohexane to cyclohexanone which comprises irradiating said cyclohexane with penetrative ionizing radiation at an oxygen pressure which results in a cyclohexanone-to-cyclohexanol product ratio greater than 1.
