Abstract:
A communication device may utilize a serial interface to communicate with a peer device via a serial interface link utilizing a serial interface protocol. The communication device may be operable to generate a first serial signal from a first plurality of signals associated with one or more interface protocols. The generated first serial signal may be communicated to the peer device via the serial interface link. The peer device may then regenerate the first plurality of signals from the communicated first serial signal. The communication device may be operable to receive a second serial signal from the peer device via the serial interface link. The second serial signal was generated by the peer device from a second plurality of signals associated with the one or more interface protocols. The communication device may then regenerate the second plurality of signals from the received second serial signal.
Abstract:
The present invention provides compositions and methods for use in treatment of premature rupture of membrane. The compositions of the invention include a therapeutic amount of an avian thick egg white composition. Preferably, the compositions include the purified thick egg white protein, ovomucin. The methods of the invention involve injecting an effective amount of the compositions into the prematurely ruptured amniotic sac of a patient in order to seal the rupture.
Abstract:
A retractor for use in surgery, has arms (2, 4) pivotal into a V-shaped configuration. Blades (16) are carried by the arms via mounting portions (16a) which can slide along the arms to provide adjustment in position with the blades being locked in that position simply by skewing the mounting portions on the arms.
Abstract:
The specification discloses quenchers of excited state energy, probes and other conjugates comprising the same, and methods for their use. The quenchers of excited state energy have a structure comprising at least one reactive functional group for linking the quencher to a carrier molecule, and at least three radicals covalently linked via exocyclic diazo bonds, the at least three radicals including at least one comprising a julolidine of the nominal formula: and the remainder of the at least three radicals being selected from the group of substituted and unsubstituted aryls, substituted and unsubstituted heteroaryls, and combinations thereof.
Abstract:
An arterial clamp has opposed clamping posts arranged to lie at opposite sides of an artery to clamp the artery between opposed clamping faces of the posts. The posts are carried by a pair of arms pivotally movable one relative to the other to move the posts into clamping relationship with the artery. A ratchet device releasably locks the arms in a selected clamping position. The clamp including posts, arms, and ratchet device is formed as a one-piece plastics moulding.
Abstract:
This invention relates to the use of sodium, calcium and ammonium salts of formic acid as early strength developers and setting accelerators in hydraulic cements, concretes, mortars and plasters. The salts used are acidic salts containing between 1.5 and 5 moles of the formate ion per mole of the cation. These salts have much greater solubility and are more effective than the corresponding calcium salts, particularly under low temperature conditions.
Abstract:
Phosphate containing basic aluminum solutions are provided by reaction aluminum sulphate solution with phosphoric acid, adding chloride, basifying by precipitation of calcium sulphate from solution and cooling the resultant solution in a controlled manner. Preferably addition of chloride and basification occurs at a temperature of 80.degree.-90.degree. C and the solution is cooled to below 60.degree. C soon after the basifying salts have been introduced. The solutions, preferably diluted to an aluminum content of 1 to 2% Al.sub.2 O.sub.3 are useful for clarifying water and dewatering sewage sludge.
Abstract:

The dog accessories case includes a dog bone-shaped bag includes a top portion, the dog bone-shaped bag contains one or more dog accessories, a pair of bowls disposed on the top portion of the dog bone-shaped bag, a storage area disposed on a middle portion of the top portion of the dog bone-shaped bag, a plurality of hinges disposed on a plurality of back edges of the top portion of the dog bone-shaped bag and are used to open and close the top portion of the dog bone-shaped bag, a plurality of snaps disposed on a plurality of front edges of the top portion of the dog bone-shaped bag and to secure and release the top portion of the dog bone-shaped bag and a bone-shaped handle.
Abstract:
Methods of producing an unsaturated free fatty acid comprising at least 18 carbon atoms are provided. In some embodiments, the methods comprise culturing an engineered microorganism in a culture medium, wherein the engineered microorganism comprises at least one recombinant enzyme selected from acyl-lipid desaturase delta-9 (EC:1.14.19.1), acyl-lipid desaturase delta-12 (EC:1.14.19.6), acyl-lipid desaturase delta-15 (EC:1.14.19.-), and thioesterase (EC:3.1.2.14). Engineered microorganisms comprising at least one of those recombinant enzymes are also provided. The methods and organisms can be used to produce at least one free fatty acid selected from oleic acid, linoleic acid and α-linolenic acid.
Abstract:
A system and method for energy efficient Ethernet (EEE) enhanced information technology power management tools. EEE-based computing center resources are designed to monitor energy savings events hardware components (e.g., physical layer device) included within the computing center resource. Energy saving statistics based on such monitoring can be provided to a power management tool. This monitoring information enables the power management tool to make broad service-level energy savings decisions on actual network activity. In addition, feedback based on the broad service-level energy savings decisions can be provided to the EEE-based computing center resources for consideration by their individual EEE control policies.
