    Abstract: There is disclosed a herbicide composition in which a postemergent herbicide is activated by the inclusion of a silicone glycol adjuvant consisting essentially of (i) a silicone glycol having an average of 4 or 5 ethylene oxide units in its glycol chain and (ii) a silicone glycol dispersant compound for component (i). The composition provides enhanced phytotoxicity in the control of weeds, particularly velvetleaf plants, and shows an improved degree of rainfastness relative to prior art compositions.

    Abstract: A free-flowing silicone polymer powder, having an average particle size of 1 to 1000 microns and prepared by mixing a polydiorganosiloxane with a silica filler, is uniformly dispersed in an organic resin using conventional equipment, such as a single screw or, preferably, a twin screw extruder. When employed at a concentration of about 0.5 to 25 parts by weight of powder per 100 parts by weight of resin, a significant improvement in the burn character of the modified resin is obtained such that the rate of heat release, generation of smoke and evolution of toxic carbon monoxide gas is significantly reduced relative to the unmodified resin.

    Abstract: There is disclosed a herbicide composition in which a postemergent herbicide is activated by the inclusion of a silicone glycol adjuvant consisting essentially of (i) a silicone glycol having an average structure ##STR1## wherein Me denotes a methyl radical, and (ii) a silicone glycol dispersant compound for component (i). When compared to similar prior art silicone glycol adjuvants not having an acetoxy terminated glycol chain, the compositions of the present invention provide enhanced rainfastness in the control of weeds, particularly velvetleaf plants.

    Abstract: A random siloxane copolymer composition, and a process for using the composition in a hydraulic brake system of a vehicle, is described. The random copolymer consists essentially of alkylmethylsiloxane and dimethylsiloxane units, wherein said alkyl group contains from five to ten carbon atoms, and the viscosity of said fluid is 15-50 cS at 25.degree. C. Within a relatively narrow compositional range, these fluids dissolve at least 15% less air than comparable polydimethylsiloxane fluids. Moreover, the copolymer may be readily formulated into brake fluid compositions which meet Department of Transportation (DOT 5) and, in the case of preferred compositions, Military (MIL-B-46176) specifications. The potential benefit of reduced air solubility is an improved margin of safety under harsh driving conditions.

    Abstract: The surface tack of a silicone gel or grease which is adheringly disposed on a substrate is decreased by coating the surface of the disposed gel or grease with a U.V.-curable organopolysiloxane liquid composition and exposing the coating to ultraviolet light until it is converted to a solid, non-tacky state. The U.V.-curable organopolysiloxane liquid composition comprises a curable mixture of an organopolysiloxane bearing olefinic radicals and an organopolysiloxane bearing silicon-bonded hydrogen radicals and/or silicon-bonded mercaptoalkyl radicals. The cured organopolysiloxane coating is easily penetrated, if desired, to provide access to the tacky silicone.
