    Abstract: A gas diffuser comprises a grid of aeration pipes spaced apart and in parallel alignment with each other within a common horizontal plane and a manifold in fluid communication with the aeration pipes. A given aeration pipe (12) includes: a length (L) extending between two ends and defining an axis (Z), a hydrodynamic diameter (Dh),an elliptical cross-sectional area defining a vertical plane comprising a vertical (Y) and horizontal (X) axis intersecting through a center (C) which are perpendicular to axis (Z), an outer circumference defined by a first arc (20) comprising 30° located below the (X) axis and bisected by the (Y) axis, and a second arc (22) comprising 330° which is non-overlapping with the first arc (20. A plurality (N) of discharge holes are spaced along the length (L) at four or more distinct positions about the second arc within the sectors and a plurality (M) of drainage holes (34) spaced along the length (L) within the first arc;The second arc (22) includes four non-overlapping 15° sectors, each comprising i) at least 10 discharge holes having a minimum hydraulic diameter (dmin) of equal to or greater than 0.001 m, ii) a value (y) equal to the average position along the Y axis of all discharge holes within the sector measured in meters, and iii) a value (F) equal to the mean value of the hydraulic diameter (d) to the forth power for all discharge holes within the sector measured in meters; wherein the following relationship applies for any two the four sectors: Abs[1−Fi/Fii+2.6×108m−5N2(yii−yi)Fi)]≦0.5 wherein “i” and “ii” refer to higher and lower sectors along the Y axis, respectively.

    Abstract: According to embodiments disclosed herein, a method of operating gas distributers may include passing a solid particulate to a processing unit, where the processing unit includes at least a first distributor and a second distributor, wherein the first distributor and second distributor is operable to pass a combustible gas and a decoking gas into the processing unit, passing the combustible gas into the processing unit through the first distributor, wherein the combustible gas is contacted with the solid particulate and coke forms on the first distributor, halting the passing of the combustible gas through the first distributor while the combustible gas is passed through the second distributor, passing the decoking gas through the first distributor while the combustible gas is passed through the second distributor, wherein the decoking gas removes coke formed on the first distributor, and resuming the passing of the combustible gas through the first distributor.

    Abstract: According to one or more embodiments, a chemical feed distributor may include a chemical feed inlet, a body, a plurality of primary chemical feed outlets, and a secondary chemical feed outlet. The chemical feed inlet may pass a chemical feed stream into the chemical feed distributor. One or more walls of the body may define an elongated chemical feed stream flow path. The plurality of primary chemical feed outlets may be spaced along at least a portion of the length of the elongated chemical feed stream flow path and may be operable to pass a first portion of the chemical feed stream out of the feed distributor and into a vessel. The secondary chemical feed outlet may be downstream of the plurality of primary chemical feed outlets and may be operable to pass a second portion of the chemical feed stream out of the chemical feed distributor.
