Abstract:
The present invention provides novel methods and processes for polymerizing unsaturated substrates, such as alkyne bearing monomers, with arenes. The polymerizations are catalyzed by gold (Au) catalysts/complexes and/or other cocatalysts. The invention further provides novel structurally complex polymers prepared in high yield via an intermolecular polyhydroarylation mechanism. Such resulting products comprise oligomeric and polymeric materials with novel molecular architectures and microstructures, which subsequently impart unique properties. The invention includes both the synthesis methods and processes and the resulting compounds and compositions of matter.

Described are ungelled coating compositions of photochromic material, precursor materials for a first polymer polymerizable by free-radical initiated polymerization and precursor materials for a second or additional polymer(s) different from the first polymer. When the second polymer is selected from polyurethane, poly(urea-urethane) and mixtures thereof, the precursor materials include at least one blocked polyisocyanate. Also described are methods of making photochromic articles using the ungelled coating compositions and the photochromic articles produced using these methods.
Abstract:

A ride vehicle may comprise a cabin attached to a deck attached to the motion platform attached to a rotator such as a turntable. It is emphasized that this abstract is provided to comply with the rules requiring an abstract which will allow a searcher or other reader to quickly ascertain the subject matter of the technical disclosure. It is submitted with the understanding that it will not be used to interpret or limit the scope or meaning of the claims.
Abstract:
Described is a coating composition adapted to enhance the adhesion of a coating or film to a substrate. The coating composition includes at least one coupling agent, partial hydrolysates thereof or mixtures thereof in a concentration greater than 25 weight percent based on the weight of the total composition; and an adhesion enhancing amount of an epoxy-containing material having at least two epoxy groups. The coating composition is free of colloidal particles chosen from silica, alumina or a mixture thereof. Also described is a process for using the coating composition and articles coated with the composition and additional coatings and films which can be photochromic.
Abstract:
A transformer isolated LED lighting circuit supplies current from a secondary-side storage capacitor to one or more LED strings in conformity with one or more dimming values. The dimming values are communicated through the transformer by patterns or codes provided in pulses of a power converter circuit that charges the storage capacitor from the primary side of the transformer, or alternatively by a special modulated signal provided in addition to the switching pulses.
Abstract:
A cascaded power converter having an auxiliary power supply operated from the second switching power stage provides efficient operation by activating the auxiliary power supply early in the startup process. A low energy transfer operating mode is initiated in the second switching power stage to charge the auxiliary power supply output without generating significant disruption at the load. After the first switching power stage is started and the intermediate node voltage has increased to a level sufficient to operate the second switching power stage, the final switching power stage enters a normal operating mode. The low energy transfer operating mode has a substantially reduced switching rate and pulse width from that of the normal operating mode.
Abstract:
Catheters and their uses for vascular access to a patient, especially during dialysis procedures, are described. The catheter contains a continuous, multi-geometric flow path profile along the axis of the catheter. Thus, the shape and material forming the fluid pathway of the catheter can change anywhere along the axis of the catheter. With multi lumen catheters, this profile transforms from a substantially D-shaped cross section in the lumen of the catheter shaft to a substantially circular-shaped cross section in the extension leg. The materials used in the catheter can also transform from an opaque material used in the catheter shaft to a clear or transparent material that is used in the extension leg. The transition between these shapes and materials can be seamless, eliminating the need for a mechanical joint that is needed because the catheter shaft and catheter extension leg(s) are comprised of a single component. Other embodiments are described.
Abstract:
An LED lighting device includes an auxiliary power supply that supplies power to a control circuit of the LED lighting device that receives an input from a terminal of a light-emitting diode (LED) string of the lighting device that has a substantially lower voltage than the line voltage to which the lighting device is connected. The terminal may be within the LED string, or may be an end of the string. A linear regulator may be operated from the voltage drop across a number of the LEDs in the string so that the energy wasted by the auxiliary power supply is minimized. In other designs, the auxiliary power supply may be intermittently connected in series with the LED string only when needed. The intermittent connection can be used to forward bias a portion of the LED string when the voltage supplied to the LED string is low, increasing overall brightness.
