    Abstract: A fluid bearing for operably connecting a shaft to a center housing of a turbocharger is provided. The fluid bearing includes a single-piece bearing sleeve defining a bore between first and second ends that each form a thrust face. The sleeve includes first and second bearing portions proximal to an associated one of the first and second ends, and a shank connecting the first and second bearing portions. Each of the first and second bearing portions includes an outer bearing surface defining a maximum outer diameter, and each of the first and second bearing portions includes an inner bearing surface defining a minimum inner diameter for radially supporting the shaft in the bore. The inner bearing surface is a continuous surface free of grooves. The sleeve has a wall thickness defining oil passages spaced from the inner bearing surface and configured to supply oil to the thrust face.

    Abstract: A connecting rod for a device includes a rod having a large end, and a cap attached to the large end. The large end of the rod and the cap cooperate to define a first side surface and a second side surface disposed opposite to each other. The large end of the rod and the cap further define a crankshaft bore that extends along a crank axis between the first side surface and the second side surface. A thrust surface is defined by at least one of the first side surface or the second side surface, and is disposed on a thrust plane. The thrust surface includes at least one recessed region that extends inward away from the thrust plane of the thrust surface. Each of the thrust surfaces include ramps that extend between the recessed regions and the flat regions at the thrust plane of the thrust surface.

    Abstract: A sensor assembly includes a sensor and a cover disposed adjacent to the sensor to protect the sensor. The cover has an inner cover surface and an outer cover surface opposite the inner cover surface. The inner cover surface faces the sensor, and the outer cover surface faces away from the sensor. The cover has a first end wall and a second end wall apart from the first end wall along a first direction. The sensor assembly includes a cleaning system having a wiper movable along the outer cover surface of the cover in the first direction to clean to the outer cover surface. The wiper is at least partly made of a wiper material, and the wiper material includes a hydrophilic material to facilitate removal of water from the outer cover surface of the cover.

    Abstract: A vehicle camera lens cleaning system includes a camera configured to be mounted to a vehicle and including a lens; an ultrasonic cleaning system adapted to vibrate the lens; a source of pressurized air; an air flow passage connected to the source of pressurize air; an annular duct connected to the air flow passage and surrounding the lens, the annular duct having a non-uniform cross section taken in a radial direction from a center of the lens; a plurality of nozzles extending from the annular duct and pointed at the lens; and a controller configured to supply pressurized air from the source of pressurized air to the plurality of nozzles simultaneous with operating the ultrasonic cleaning system.

    Abstract: A turbocharger assembly includes a center housing which defines a bore, a journal bearing, and a rotating assembly. The bore further defines primary and secondary annular grooves. The journal bearing may be disposed within the bore such that the annular groove encircles the journal bearing and feeds the fluid thereto. The rotating assembly includes a shaft, a turbine wheel and a compressor wheel. The turbine wheel is configured to be driven by the post-combustion gasses while the compressor wheel pressurizes the airflow for delivery to a combustion chamber. The shaft may be supported by one or more journal bearings for rotation within the bore about a longitudinal axis. The shaft includes a shaft surface which defines a standard region and a feature in a feature region. The feature is configured to generate a plurality of fictitious forces which stabilizes the turbocharger shaft.
