    Abstract: Multiple images that include a first image, a second image, and a third image are received. The multiple images are such that the second image is temporally between the first image and the third image. The first image, the second image, and the third image are combined to obtain a long-exposure image. High dynamic range processing is applied to the second image and the long-exposure image to obtain an output image with a larger dynamic range than a dynamic range of the second image. The high dynamic range processing uses the second image as a short-exposure image. An image based on the output image is transmitted, stored, or displayed.

    Abstract: A method for reducing overexposure or underexposure in a time-lapse includes acquiring, using an image capture device, a first frame of the time-lapse using a first exposure setting; and acquiring, using the image capture device, a second frame of the time-lapse. The first frame of the time-lapse is acquired under a first luminance condition. The second frame of the time-lapse is acquired under a second luminance condition that is different from the first luminance condition. The second frame of the time-lapse is acquired using an exposure setting that is determined based on respective exposure settings of one or more preview images obtained between the first frame of the time-lapse and the second frame of the time-lapse. The one or more preview images are not included in the time-lapse.

    Abstract: Multiple pipelines are used for image and video processing. In a first image processing pipeline, an image is retrieved from a buffer and processed using one or more image processing units. An altered image produced using the first image processing pipeline replaces the earlier version of the image stored in the buffer. The altered image may also be immediately output for display or encoding. In the second image processing pipeline, the altered image is retrieved from the buffer and processed according to image processing control statistics collected at the first image processing pipeline. The resulting processed image may then be encoded. A processed image output from the second image processing pipeline has a higher resolution than the altered image output from the first image processing pipeline.

A camera includes a memory and a processor. The processor is configured to execute instructions stored in the memory to acquire a first frame of the time-lapse; acquire one or more preview images, the preview images are not included in the time-lapse; determine an exposure setting for a second frame of the time-lapse using the one or more preview images; and acquire the second frame of the time-lapse using the exposure setting.
