Abstract: The invention concerns a method for manufacturing a prosthesis (11) for a fractured long bone of a patient, the method comprising the steps of: A) providing data representative of the fractured long bone, the fractured long bone comprising a diaphyseal fragment (2) comprising a medullary cavity (8); B) based on said data, designing the prosthesis specifically to the patient, the prosthesis comprising a stem part (12) configured to be inserted into the medullary cavity, step B) comprising: a sub-step of choosing, specifically to the patient, a contact zone (40) of the medullary cavity onto which a respective chosen mechanical stress is planned to be applied by the stem part, and a sub-step of designing the stem part so that the stem part may be inserted into the medullary cavity and thus apply the chosen mechanical stress to said contact zone; and C) manufacturing the prosthesis designed at step B).

Abstract: Various apparatus and methods for implanting glenoid prostheses are disclosed. In various embodiments, a kit for shoulder surgery can include a partial reaming guide having a patient-matched surface shaped to conform to a scapula of a patient, the partial reaming guide configured to limit glenoid reaming about a reaming axis to only a portion of a glenoid; and an anchor peg channel guide having a patient-matched surface shaped to conform to a portion of the glenoid, the anchor peg channel guide having a channel offset from the reaming axis.

Abstract: Various apparatus and methods for implanting glenoid prostheses are disclosed. In various embodiments, a method for performing shoulder surgery can include guiding a guide pin into the glenoid surface along a reaming axis. A partial reaming guide can be placed in contact with the glenoid surface over the guide pin. A reamer can be guided over the guide pin to ream the glenoid surface. The reamer can be further advanced over the guide pin until the reamer contacts the partial reaming guide, whereby such contact limits reaming to only a portion of the glenoid surface.

Abstract: A patient specific shoulder guide is provided that includes a hub and a plurality of peripheral members. Each of the peripheral members has a peripheral member height dimension between the patient specific contact surface and a side of the peripheral member opposite the patient specific contact surface. At least one of the peripheral members is a low profile peripheral member in which the peripheral height dimension is less than the peripheral height dimension of at least one other of the peripheral members or is less than the hub height.

Abstract: A method comprises generating initial designs that represent an orthopedic prosthesis customized for a patient; generating alternative designs based on the initial designs, wherein the alternative designs represent the orthopedic prosthesis and generating the alterative designs comprises, for each initial design in the set of initial designs: applying an encoder model that generates a vector based on the initial design, wherein the encoder model is part of an autoencoder; generating a set of modified vectors by modifying one or more elements of the vector; applying a decoder model to the modified vectors to generate one or more of the alternative designs, wherein the decoder model is part of the autoencoder, and the alternative designs represent the orthopedic prosthesis; and selecting a design for the orthopedic prosthesis based from the initial designs or the alternative designs.

Abstract: A patient specific shoulder guide is provided that includes a plurality of peripheral members coupled with a peripheral body. The peripheral members have a patient specific contact surface. An open space (e.g., a single open space) is or can be provided radially between a central channel and an inner periphery of the peripheral body. The open space(s) can extend from a side of a spoke to another side of the same or a different spoke. The spoke can be a single spoke in some embodiments. The single open space can extend more than 120 degrees between circumferential ends of the open space.
