Abstract: Provided is a method for calculating an oxygen concentration in a combustion chamber, including: calculating volume efficiency of the combustion chamber while a variable valve lift is in an on state and the volume efficiency of the combustion chamber and the volume of internal EGR from the volume of the combustion chamber while the variable valve lift is in an off state; and calculating a mass of the internal EGR from the pressure of an exhaust manifold, the temperature of the exhaust manifold, and the volume of the internal EGR.

Abstract: A variable valve lift system may include a roller finger follower having an end connected with a valve and a roller mounted thereto. A hydraulic lash adjuster supports another end of the roller finger follower and has operating modes which are changed to a high lift mode or a low lift mode according to supplied hydraulic pressure to change a height of the hydraulic lash adjuster. A hydraulic pressure supplying portion supplies the hydraulic pressure to the hydraulic lash adjuster. A cam is mounted to a camshaft and contacts the roller of the roller finger follower. The cam has a first ramp and a second ramp formed thereon.

Abstract: A system for controlling an engine includes a driving information detector detecting driving information. At least one intake valve and at least one exhaust valve open and close the combustion chamber. A variable valve lift (VVL) system adjusts opening timing of the intake valve and the exhaust valve. A compressor rotates by a rotational force of a turbine and compresses intake air, and a vane adjusts the amount of exhaust gas supplied to the turbine. A controller controls opening of the vane using a high pressure EGR valve, when the exhaust valve is open during a suction stroke by the VVL system, the vehicle accelerates or decelerates, and an air/fuel ratio is beyond reference ratio range.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is a method for diagnosing and controlling a two-step exhaust variable valve lift (VVL) system, including: a controlling device acquiring an operation state signal of a vehicle; when the vehicle is in the over-run state, the controlling device outputting a mode conversion signal of the two-step exhaust VVL system; an air mass sensor measuring an air mass entering an engine, and the controlling device comparing a predetermined prediction value of the air mass with the measured air mass; when a difference of the compared air mass corresponds to a predetermined mode conversion comparing amount, the controlling device determining that a mode conversion of the two-step exhaust VVL system is completed; and when the difference of the compared air mass does not correspond to the mode conversion comparing amount, the controlling device determining that the two-step exhaust VVL system is faulty and outputting a result thereof.

Abstract: A method for fuel injection of an engine system may include detecting driving information, including a combustion pressure in a combustion chamber, a heat generation amount in the combustion chamber, a crank angle, and a pressure/temperature/air amount of an intake manifold and an exhaust manifold, setting a fuel amount and injection timing with respect to a pilot injection as map data from an internal temperature, determining whether a maximum combustion pressure change rate is greater than a predetermined pressure change rate, determining generation timing of the maximum combustion pressure change rate, when the maximum combustion pressure change rate is greater than the predetermined pressure change rate, and decreasing a fuel amount of the pilot injection when the maximum combustion pressure change rate is generated during the pilot injection.
