Abstract:
A fluid friction clutch has a supply chamber separated from a working chamber by a connecting orifice between the supply chamber and the working chamber. The clutch has a pivotable valve lever with a permanent magnet. A circuit applies a selectively positive or negative current to an electromagnetic coil for generating a selectively alternative magnetic field that interacts with the permanent magnet to control the movement of the valve lever, and, thereby open and close the connecting orifice.
Abstract:
The invention is directed to an axial fan having a hub and including an annular flange and a plurality of fan blade units distributed in spaced relationship about the periphery of the annular flange. Each of the fan blade units includes a base portion defining a hub component and a fan blade extending outwardly from the base portion. The hub components are disposed in spaced relationship one next to the other around the periphery of the annular flange to define the hub of the axial fan and so as to cause each two mutually adjacent ones of the hub components to be separated from each other and to define a gap therebetween. Each of the fan blade units is a single piece injection molded onto the annular flange.
Abstract:
A fluid friction clutch includes a driving element and a driven element which is rotatably supported on the driving element and which is entrained by the driving element with fluid friction by a drive disk in a working space. A locking device is disposed between the driving element and the driven element, and includes a coupling rod having first and second ends. First and second joints are provided for rigidly connecting the first and second ends of the coupling rod to the driving element and the driven element, respectively. A balance weight or another coupling rod is arranged diametrically opposite the coupling rod on the driven element.
Abstract:
A fluid-friction coupling includes a housing defining a space. The housing includes a partition wall separating the space into a reservoir chamber defining an oil-wet region and a work chamber. A drive disc is rotatably mounted in the work chamber and a drive shaft is connected to the drive disc so as to be rotatable therewith. The partition wall has a valve port formed therein. A valve arm is mounted in the housing for controlling the valve port and is movable in a closure direction through a total displacement (s) from an open position wherein the valve port is clear to a closed position wherein the valve port is closed. An external bimetal is mounted outside of the housing for actuating the valve arm so as to move the valve arm from the open position to the closed position. An internal bimetal is mounted in the oil-wet region of the reservoir chamber for imparting a movement to the valve arm in the closure direction when the internal bimetal reaches a predetermined limit temperature. The internal bimetal is an internal bimetal member having a first end at which the bimetal member is attached to the housing. And stop is mounted in the reservoir chamber for limiting the movement imparted to the valve arm by the internal bimetal member to only a partial displacement (s.sub.1) toward the closed position thereby leaving a residual displacement (s.sub.0) of the total displacement (s).
Abstract:
Soldered disk oil coolers are made using two disk plate which are stacked on one another for forming a hollow body, and are connected by soldering their outer edges. The individual disk bodies are constructed of two plates of a circular or elliptic shape in such a manner that their edges overlap one another and are in this case adapted to one another such that the outer edge is lockingly and under tension held at the inner edge of the other plate.
Abstract:
A fluid friction clutch is disclosed for vehicle cooling fans and the like, which clutch is controlled by a bimetallic element controlling a clutch fluid valve opening.Since the bimetallic element must have degrees of freedom, the fastening of the bimetallic elements at the cover of fluid friction clutch results in difficulties, particularly if the clutch is subjected to high stress. In order to avoid that the bimetallic element can move away from its position in the case of high stress, it is suggested to provide a bimetallic element which is clamped in only at one side and the free end of which has the required freedom of motion, but which can be fastened securely in its position. The new clutch is used for cooling fans of motor vehicle engines which are to be switched as a function of the temperature.
Abstract:
A pressurized medium powered device has a motor of the external rotor type, both the stator and the rotor of the motor having registering channels which communicate with one another across an interstice. At least one annular groove is provided in at least one of the rotor and stator components of the motor at the interstice, and at least one annular sealing element, such as an O-ring or a slotted ring of rectangular cross-sectional configuration is received in the annular groove with axial and radial play and is pressed into sealing contact with the components, and into sliding contact with at least one of the components, by the pressure of the pessurized medium. An annular depression may be formed in the other component in registry with the annular groove, and the sealing element may be partly received in such depression. At least one of the surfaces which bound the interstice is very smooth, which can be obtained by fine machining, surface contacting, or providing a layer of synthetic plastic material on such surface.

Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for manufacturing a mould body (40) serving as an original or master or, alternatively, a matrix, said mould body having at least one surface area (41a) in the form of a microstructure, designed so that it can be transferred as a complementary surface area to a matrix or an object. The mould body (40) is constructed from one or more prefabricated discrete elements (41). A base plate belonging to the mould body (40) is applied and secured in at least one of these discrete elements (41). This element shall be provided with said surface area (41a) in the form of a microstructure. A matrix or object formed by the mould body (40) is provided with a complementary microstructured surface area from said discrete elements. The invention also relates to a mould body produced in this way.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a fan for an internal combustion engine. The fan has a locking device for a fluid friction clutch in the form of a pivoting hook that may be mounted subsequently at a fixed location using a holding device and may be triggered using an electromagnet. The electromagnet may be accommodated in the circuit of an ignition lock such that when the engine is started, the fan wheel is prevented from rotating unintentionally.
