    Abstract: A wiper blade is provided that includes a blade having an outer surface and terminating in a lip tip. A permanent silicone outer coating derived from a liquid silicone rubber is bonded to at least to the lip tip. The coating can also encapsulate the blade. An improved process for operating a wiper blade is also provided in which the wiper blade has a blade with an outer surface and terminating in a lip tip. The improvement involves curing a liquid silicone rubber to adhere a permanent silicone outer coating at least to said lip tip and then movably contacting said lip tip with a windshield.

    Abstract: A coating composition for imparting a hydrophobic film on a target surface is provided that includes a quaternary ammonium silane salt, a solvent, and a solid lubricant. The composition is stable and able to impart a hydrophobic film even after storage for several weeks at elevated temperature. The composition is non-absorbable or non-penetrative into an elastomeric applicator onto which the water repellant (WR) coating is applied, preserving the capability of transferring the WR ingredients of the coating from the wiper blade insert to a windshield on which the wiper blade insert is operated, even after the coated wiper blade insert has been aged for an extended period of time in storage. A wiper blade insert is also provided having the above composition applied and instructions for the securement of the wiper blade to a vehicle to impart the hydrophobic film to a vehicle windshield contacted by the wiper blade insert.

    Abstract: A coating composition for imparting water repellency from an elastomeric hydrophobic applicator of a wiper blade squeegee to a windshield is provided that includes a quaternary ammonium silane salt, a quaternary silicone polymer, a particulate dispersion; and a solvent. A wiper blade is also provided that includes a hydrophobic elastomeric wiper blade squeegee adapted to couple to a windshield wiper arm and to engage a glass windshield. A coating formed by the evaporation of the solvent from the aforementioned composition is present on the squeegee. A process of activating a windshield includes windshield being contacted by the wiper blade squeegee coated with the evaporated coating created from the aforementioned composition. The windshield is wiped under wet, dry, or a combination of wet and dry conditions with the wiper blade to impart a hydrophobicity of more than 60 degrees of water contact angle to activate the windshield.

    Abstract: A one-step headlight restoration formulation is also provided that includes a polyurethane dispersion of aliphatic polycarbonate urethane present from 20 to 85 total weight percent, along with a wetting agent present from 1 to 4 total weight percent. A biocide is present from 0.005 to 0.5 total weight percent of the formulation. A carrier constitutes the remainder of the formulation. A kit for a one-step headlight restoration is provided that includes a wipe for applying said formulation to a headlight surface in need of resurfacing as a one step process. The process of using the kit includes removing a formulation impregnated wipe from an envelope and contacting the wipe with the headlight surface to apply said formulation by wiping evenly on a headlight lens surface to form a restorative film.
