Abstract: An apparatus for an elevator installation includes a blocking mechanism and a measuring mechanism, wherein the blocking mechanism is adapted to connect a counterweight and/or a car of the elevator installation to a rail system of the elevator installation, and wherein the measuring mechanism is adapted to map a force transferred from the counterweight and/or car into the rail system as a force value for checking a balance of the elevator installation.
