Abstract: A rotary electric machine includes a stator having a circumferentially spaced series of axially extending teeth defining winding slots therebetween. Stator windings are at least partially disposed in each winding slot and electrically connected to form a plurality of phases. One or more slots contain the same magnitude of current at substantially all times for each phase. Structure defines a plurality of elongated coolant passageways disposed in each winding slot. A subset of the coolant passageways contained in the slots for a single phase is an even number. Fluid flows in one direction for half of the subset of coolant passageways and in the opposite direction for the other half of the subset of coolant passageways. At least two of the coolant passageways in the machine are fluidly connected in parallel. At least one of the coolant passageways is located circumferentially between two windings in the same slot.

Abstract: A rotary electric machine includes a stator extending along an axis and having teeth arranged about the axis. The teeth are circumferentially spaced apart by slots. Conductors extend around the teeth and through the slots. The conductors are electrically connected to one another to form phases. Cooling devices are provided in the slots. Each cooling device is fluidly connected to an inlet tube for supplying cooling fluid to the cooling device and an outlet tube for removing cooling fluid from the cooling device. A manifold includes a first cooling channel fluidly connected to each inlet tube and a second cooling channel fluidly connected to each outlet tube such that all the cooling devices in the machine are fluidly connected in parallel.

Abstract: One example includes a half-bridge switching circuit system. The system includes a first plurality of switches arranged between a first rail voltage and an output on which an output voltage is provided and a second plurality of switches arranged between a second rail voltage and the output, the first and second pluralities of switches being controlled via a plurality of switching signals. The system also includes a plurality of flying capacitors arranged to interconnect the first and second pluralities of switches, and further includes a plurality of snubber circuits that are each arranged in parallel with a respective one of the plurality of flying capacitors, the first plurality of switches, and the second plurality of switches.

Abstract: A stator for a rotary electric machine includes a core extending along an axis and having a series of axially extending passages arranged circumferentially about the axis. A plurality of teeth are provided with each tooth including an axially extending inner surface defining a passage and a projection extending therein. Retention devices secure each tooth to the stator. Each retention device includes a resilient member having a base extending within one of the passages of the stator and an arm extending from the base and within the passage of one of the teeth. The arm including an enlarged portion for engaging the projection to pull the tooth into engagement with the core.

Cooling structure is provided in each slot. Stator windings are wound around the teeth and the cooling structures such that each winding is at least partially disposed in each slot. The windings are electrically connected to form a plurality of phases. The teeth, the cooling structures, and the windings cooperate to form a subassembly. An outer stator core is axially slid over the subassembly to connect the teeth to the outer stator core.
