Abstract: A heater for a canister includes a heater case embedded within an adsorption material and sealed at a top, and a heater core having a heat generation element and installed in the heater case. The bottom of the heater case is fitted into a heater retaining hole of a cap member in a hermetically-sealed state, for enabling the heat generation element and terminals of the heater core to be completely separated from the gas atmosphere containing the adsorbed fuel components within an activated carbon region. A leaf spring having a heat conductivity is arranged between an outside surface of one of a pair of strip-shaped ceramic plates constructing part of the heater core and an inner wall surface of the heater case, for retaining the heater core in place within the heater case and for permitting heat transfer from the heat generation element to the adsorption material.

Abstract: Disclosed is an evaporated fuel processing apparatus for an internal combustion engine including: a canister; and a purge passage supplying purge gas including evaporated fuel separated from the canister to an intake system therethrough; characterized in that the evaporated fuel processing apparatus further comprises a pulsation pump supplying the purge gas to the intake system by using a pumping action responding to intake pulsation generated in an intake passage of the internal combustion engine. The pulsation pump includes: a first chamber; a communication passage communicating with the first chamber and the intake passage; an elastic body being deformed depending on pressure fluctuation of the first chamber; a second chamber formed so as to surround the elastic body; a suction port provided with a check valve allowing inflow of gas into the second chamber, and a discharge port provided with a check valve allowing outflow of gas from the second chamber.

Abstract: A canister is provided with a flange for partitioning part of one axial end of an adsorption material chamber and having a first cylindrical portion protruding toward the adsorption material chamber for defining a space communicating with a purge port, a second cylindrical portion extending toward a first axial end portion of a case for defining a diffusion chamber communicating with a charge port, and orifices for communicating the adsorption material chamber with the diffusion chamber. Also provided are a first partition wall positioned close to a top end of the first cylindrical portion and having an annularly-shaped orifice, and a second partition wall axially spaced apart from the first partition wall toward a second axial end portion and having communication holes. These partition walls cooperate with each other such that a second diffusion chamber not charged with an adsorption material is defined between them, for optimal charge-gas conversion-and-diffusion.

Abstract: A cylindrical column-shaped honeycomb adsorbent has a plurality of cell passages extending along an axial direction of the honeycomb adsorbent. The plurality of cell passages are configured so that a pitch of adjacent cell passages is within a range of 1.5 mm˜1.8 mm, and so that a thickness of a wall between the cell passages is within a range of 0.45 mm˜0.60 mm. With this configuration, the honeycomb adsorbent exhibits BWC (Butane Working Capacity) of 6.5 g/dL or greater. By mixing fibrous meltable core melting away during baking, the honeycomb adsorbent has macropores configured to have a volume of 0.15 mL/g˜0.35 mL/g with respect to an overall weight of the honeycomb adsorbent and metal oxide particles having a proportion of weight of 150˜250% with respect to the activated carbon.
