An intermediate cover of a filter housing of a filter for purifying liquids can be mounted in the filter housing for separating a filter receiving space for a filter insert from a centrifuge receiving space for a centrifuge separator by a rotary and/or insertion movement relative to an imaginary axis. The intermediate cover is provided with a portion of at least one clean fluid channel forming a fluidic connection between a clean fluid side of the filter insert and a fluid outlet of the filter housing for a purified clean fluid. The filter insert has a connecting device arranged at an axial end face and connectable to the intermediate cover. An outlet opening for purified clean fluid is arranged at the axial end face and corresponds with an inlet opening of the clean fluid channel of the intermediate cover. The outlet opening at least partially forms the connecting device.

The invention relates to a fuel filter (10) having a filter element (12) for separating water from the fuel. The water can be fed into a collection chamber (24) of the fuel filter (10) via a first conduit (26), which extends from the filter element (12) to the collection chamber (24). Provided in the first conduit (26) is a branching off of a second conduit (32), which enables fluid discharge from the first conduit (26). Preferably, a throttle (34) and in particular a press-fit throttle is provided in the second conduit (32), in order to regulate the amount of outflow. The second conduit (32) preferably branches off from the first conduit (26) at substantially a 90 degree angle to the first conduit (26), so that fluid flowing in the first conduit (26) primarily flows past the second conduit (32) and reaches the collection chamber (24).

The first layer is a filter layer of cellulose, and the second downstream layer is a nonwoven of plastic fibers, wherein the second layer has a smaller thickness than the first layer.

A housing connecting section is provided for connecting the housing part and the housing closure part to each other. The housing module has an externally positioned support structure that surrounds the housing part like a sleeve and has a reinforcement region that extends about the housing connecting section. The support structure has a fastening region for attachment of the housing module on a holding component of the fluid system. The connection of the housing part with the housing closure part is a direct connection.

A water separator for water contained in fuel has a water separator housing with a separator element. A water collecting chamber is arranged in operation of the water separator below the separator element. A water collecting chamber through opening fluidically connects the water collecting chamber with the separator element. A drainage through opening has a first end which leads, for draining water from the water separator, out of the water separator. A second end is connected fluidically by an overflow valve to the water collecting chamber. The overflow valve has a float closing off a connection between drainage through opening and water collecting chamber when a water filling level has not reached the overflow valve. The float has an average density of 700 kg/m3 to 1,000 kg/m3 so that the float, when the water filling level is reached, opens the connection between water collecting chamber and drainage through opening.

A water separation system for separating water from fuel is provided with a water separator with a separator housing provided with a water collecting chamber; a water separating element arranged in the separator housing and fluidically connected with the water collecting chamber; and a water discharge valve connected to the water collecting chamber. A suction and pressure fuel pump feeds fuel to the water separating element. A control device is operatively connected to the fuel pump to control the fuel pump for discharging water collected in the water collecting chamber such that the fuel pump pumps fuel into the separator housing to displace the collected water and discharge the collected water from the water collecting chamber via the water discharge valve. The water discharge valve is pressure-controlled or transferred into an open position by the control device.
