Abstract: The present invention addresses the problem of providing a novel therapeutic agent that is effective against diseases involving stratified squamous epithelial cells such as dry eye syndrome. The present invention is an agent for promoting normal differentiation/maturation of stratified squamous epithelial cells, which comprises a secretion of mesenchymal stem cells. It is preferable that the secretions not include animal serum, that the mesenchymal stem cells be adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells, umbilical cord-derived mesenchymal stem cells, or bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells, and that the stratified squamous epithelial cells be at least one selected from the group consisting of corneal epithelial cells, conjunctival epithelial cells, epidermal keratinocytes, oral epithelial cells, epiglottic epithelial cells, esophageal epithelial cells, vaginal epithelial cells, vocal fold epithelial cells, nasal epithelial cells, and nasal vestibular epithelial cells.

Abstract: There are provided a highly versatile method for screening for retinopathy of prematurity, a screening apparatus, and a trained model that are capable of accurately predict the progression of retinopathy of prematurity at appropriate timing. There is provided a method for screening for retinopathy of prematurity to predict the progression of retinopathy of prematurity, the method including a treatment determination step of determining whether or not treatment is indicated for retinopathy of prematurity after a predetermined number of days after birth based on premature infant information including postnatal time-series data on weight, height, and vital signs of a premature infant whose gestational age is less than a predetermined week.

Abstract: An eye-fatigue examining device and an eye-fatigue examining method capable of examining eye fatigue of a subject's eye regardless of an age of a patient are provided. The eye-fatigue examining device includes: a light quantity difference adjusting unit that increases a light quantity difference between lights respectively incident on right and left subject's eyes; a gaze direction detecting unit that detects gaze directions of the respective subject's eyes while the light quantity difference adjusting unit increases the light quantity difference; and a light quantity difference deciding unit that decides a specific light quantity difference at which a change in the gaze directions due to the increase in the light quantity difference occurs, based on the detection result of the gaze direction detecting unit.

Abstract: It aims to construct a technology in which the onset or progression of an aging state or a specific disease can be evaluated in an objective and highly reproducible manner, and in particular, to provide a method of detecting conjunctival diseases such as conjunctival MALT lymphoma, and to provide an aging biomarker that serves as an indicator of the aging state.
A method of detecting a conjunctival disease using an ocular surface tissue, the method comprising a step of comparing a microbial community structure of a microbiota included in an ocular surface tissue specimen sampled from a healthy person, with a microbial community structure of a microbiota included in an ocular surface tissue specimen sampled from a subject to detect an ocular surface tissue specimen which is sampled from the subject evaluated as having the conjunctival disease based on a change in the microbial community structure between the healthy person and the subject, and an aging biomarker for detecting an aging state, the aging biomarker comprising a bacterial species which belongs to at least one family selected from Corynebacteriaceae family and Propionibacteriales family in an ocular surface tissue.-

Abstract: A medical diagnostic apparatus includes a receiver circuit that receives three-dimensional volumetric data of a subject’s eye, and a processor configured to separate portions of the three-dimensional volumetric data into separate segments, perform processing differently on each of the separate segments, and combine the separately processed segments to produce an enhanced three-dimensional volumetric data set. The processor is further configured to generate at least one diagnostic metric from the enhanced three-dimensional volumetric data set, and the processor is further configured to evaluate a pathological condition based on the at least one diagnostic metric. Related methods and computer readable media are also disclosed.
