    Abstract: A packaging element for accommodating at least one product includes a blank which has a number of portions connected to one another by folding lines. The portions include an accommodating portion having at least one receptacle, the shape of which is matched to the shape of a product to be accommodated, a first side-wall portion, a first cover-wall portion, a second side-wall portion, and a second cover-wall portion. The first cover-wall portion may have at least one hollow, and the second cover-wall portion may have at least one protrusion with a shape and position complementary to the hollow.

    Abstract: A method for coating products is provided. The method includes the steps of applying a coating liquid to a product and removing excess coating liquid from the product. It is desirable to provide a method for efficiently and reliably coating delicate or easily deformable products, such as products molded from a pulp fiber slurry. The method includes fixing the product to a receiving portion of a product carrier that is configured in the same shape as the product, such that an exterior surface of the product abuts the interior concave surface of the receiving portion of the device. A coating liquid is applied to the product in the product carrier. The product carrier is affixed to a centrifuging device and the coating liquid is dispersed over the surface of the product using centripetal force.

    Abstract: The present invention includes a system of multipart devices for the formation, pressing, and coating of molded pulp fiber articles. The system includes a mold device, a pressing device, and/or a coating device. Each device comprises a screen fastened or otherwise connected to the housing unit. The housing unit is a solid, non-porous housing element, and multiple housing units are configured to be reversibly connected to form a single device. When joined together, the screens of each housing unit form a continuous cavity for the molding, pressing, and coating of the product. The housing unit of a mold device comprises one or more vacuum systems which direct vacuum pressure to the product surface of the mold screen to form a pulp fiber product from a pulp fiber slurry. The pulp product is operable to be dried in the mold device, resulting in the formation of a stable, thin-walled pulp product.

    Abstract: A molded pulp product formed from the molding of a three-dimensional pulp slurry. The pulp slurry comprises a natural fiber composition of virgin fibers which have not been recycled and are derived from plant materials. The natural fiber composition includes hemp fibers which have been micronized to suitable length and combined with pulverized hemp shive to form a fibrous matrix. The molded pulp product is formed from a vacuum molding process, thermoforming process, custom air-burst molding process, or other molding process wherein the slurry is applied to a three-dimensional mold and a three-dimensional product is formed. The resulting packaging product is one hundred percent biodegradable.
