Abstract: A method of manufacturing a particulate polymer includes introducing a polymer latex into a vessel; distributing the polymer latex in the vessel to a coagulator via a distribution member and a redistribution member; introducing a coagulant and steam into the coagulator; breaking the polymer latex; and separating the particulate polymer. The distribution member and the redistribution member are mounted on an agitator shaft of the coagulator, and are configured such that the polymer latex in the vessel enters the open top and exits the open bottom of the distribution member and flows into the redistribution member. The polymer latex in the redistribution member then overflows into the coagulator.

Abstract: A process for the production of an elastomer agglomerate composition wherein the process comprises the steps in this order: (a) providing a slurry comprising elastomeric particles having an average particle size of ≤150 nm in water; and (b) forcing the slurry from (a) through an aperture at a flow velocity of at least 500 m/s. The elastomer agglomerate compositions produced via such process demonstrate a particularly desirable high average particle size.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for the production of a polymer using a compound comprising at least 2 unsaturated carbon-carbon bonds, wherein the process comprises a polymerization section and a purification section, wherein the product from the polymerization section is subjected in the purification section to a sequence of purification steps comprising: removal of the vapor phase from the product from the polymerization section by means of flash separation to obtain a first vapor phase and a polymerization product; subjecting the first vapor phase to a compression and condensation treatment to obtain a second vapor phase and a condensed monomer phase; wherein the purification steps are conducted in this order. Such process allows for the optimal utilisation of raw materials in the polymerization process.
