Abstract:
An integrated process to convert crude oil into petrochemical products by subjecting the crude oil to crude oil distillation to produce gases fraction, naphtha, kerosene, gasoil and resid; subjecting resid to resid upgrading to produce LPG, light-distillate and middle-distillate; subjecting at least a portion of one or more of the group consisting of middle-distillate produced by resid upgrading, kerosene and gasoil to middle-distillate hydrocracking to produce LPG, light-distillate and hydrowax; and subjecting at least a portion of one or more of the group consisting of light-distillate produced by resid upgrading, light-distillate produced by middle-distillate hydrocracking and hydrowax to steam cracking. A process installation for performing the process of the present invention is also provided, and together allow conversion of crude oil into petrochemical products having an improved carbon-efficiency, while maintaining a high ethylene yield and a favourable ethylene:propylene ratio.

The present invention relates to a method for producing high-quality feedstock for a steam cracking process, said method comprising the following steps: i) providing a hydrocarbon feedstock; ii) contacting said hydrocarbon feedstock with a solvent at a dosage effective to remove aromatics and naphthenes from said feedstock forming a refined feedstock and one or more aromatics and naphthenes containing streams; iii) processing said refined feedstock in a steam cracking process.

Furthermore, the present invention relates to a process installation to convert crude oil into petrochemical products comprising a crude distillation unit comprising an inlet for crude oil and at least one outlet for kerosene and/or gasoil; an aromatic ring opening unit comprising an inlet for a hydrocarbon feed to aromatic ring opening and an outlet for LPG; and a unit for the olefins synthesis comprising an inlet for LPG produced by the integrated petrochemical process installation and an outlet for olefins. The hydrocarbon feed subjected to aromatic ring opening comprises kerosene and/or gasoil produced by crude oil distillation in the process; and refinery unit-derived middle-distillate produced in the process. The process and the process installation of the present invention have an increased production of petrochemicals at the expense of the production of fuels and an improved propylene yield.

The present invention relates to a process for converting a hydrocarbon feedstock into olefins and preferably also into BTX, said converting process comprising the following steps of: feeding a hydrocarbon feed-stock to a first hydrocracking unit, feeding the effluent from said first hydrocracking unit to a first separation section, separating said effluent in said first separation section feeding at least one stream to a dehydrogenation unit, and feeding the effluent from said at least one dehydrogenation unit to a second separation section.

Systems and methods for processing plastic derived pyrolysis oil are disclosed. A plastic derived pyrolysis oil and/or plastic are processed in a catalytic cracking unit and/or a thermal cracking unit under reaction conditions sufficient to produce a gaseous stream comprising propylene and a liquid stream. The liquid stream is further processed to produce additional propylene.

A method to produce olefins may include supplying a hydrocarbon feed to an outer tube of a thermal energy recovery assembly; heating the hydrocarbon feed in the outer tube of the thermal energy recovery assembly to output a preheated hydrocarbon feed; supplying the preheated hydrocarbon feed to an electrically powered cracking furnace comprising a reaction zone to heat the preheated hydrocarbon feed; cracking the preheated hydrocarbon feed in the reaction zone of the electrically heated cracking furnace using heat generated by electricity to output hot reactor effluent comprising cracked hydrocarbons and olefins; supplying the hot reactor effluent to an inner tube of the thermal energy recovery assembly; and cooling the hot reactor effluent in the inner tube of the thermal energy recovery assembly by transferring heat to the hydrocarbon feed.

An electrically powered furnace may include a plurality of heating tubes configured to receive a feed and heat the feed. Each of the plurality of heating tubes may define a longitudinal axis extending between a first end of the heating tube and a second end of the heating tube and a longitudinal passage for the feed to pass through during heating of the feed. The electrically powered furnace may also include a plurality of electrical connections electrically connecting the plurality of heating tubes, and an electrical power source electrically connected to the plurality of electrical connections and configured to supply a voltage to the plurality of electrical connections. The voltage may be greater than or equal to 20 volts. The electrical connections may electrically connect the heating tubes in series, and the furnace may be configured such that processing of the feed occurs in parallel.
