Abstract: A tubular LED lamp to be used with an external electronic power controlling device which is adapted to provide an input voltage to the lamp, comprising: a LED unit; a driving circuit for the LED unit; and a safety detection circuit adapted to detect whether the tubular LED lamp is correctly connected to an external lamp fixture; characterized in that further comprising: a holding current providing circuit adapted to provide a holding current through the electronic controlling device so as to maintain the electronic controlling device to be conductive; and a controlling circuit adapted to synchronize the safety detection circuit with the holding current providing circuit such that the safety detection circuit is adapted to carry out the detection when the hold current providing circuit is adapted to provide the holding current and the electronic controlling device is conductive; wherein the controlling circuit is adapted to deactivate the holding current providing circuit and the safety detection circuit after the detection in one cycle of the input voltage, and re-activate and deactivate them in a later cycle.

Abstract: To provide a safer over voltage protection, it is provided a driving circuit for a light emitting source, comprising an input adapted to receive a power supply; a conversion circuit, adapted to convert the power supply and provide a converted power, comprising a power switch (M2); an output, adapted to output the converted power; an output capacitor (C2) connected at the output; a first control circuit coupled to the output and connected to the power switch (M2), adapted to sense a voltage corresponding to the voltage on the output capacitor and control the power switch operate in a power-reducing mode to reduce the converted power when the voltage corresponding to the voltage on the output capacitor sensed by the first control circuit exceeds a first level; and a second control circuit (D15) connected to the output capacitor (C2) and connected to a control terminal of the power switch (M2), adapted to sense a voltage at the output capacitor (C2) and damage and make the power switch (M2) unoperational permanently when the voltage at the output capacitor (C2) sensed by the second control circuit exceeds a second level.

Abstract: A driver circuit is for driving a GaN power commutation switch of a switch mode power converter. A sensing component is connected to the GaN switch for sensing a parameter such as a peak current of the power commutation. An energy storage component provides a certain turn on voltage between the gate and source of the GaN switch. The charging and discharging of the energy storage component is regulated, and the sensing is disabled with timing which is synchronized with the charging and discharging function of the energy storage component. It is prevented that a voltage across the sensing component reduces the generated gate-source drive voltage of the GaN switch.

Abstract: A tubular solid state lighting device has a pin safety circuit electrically connected to connection pins of the one end. The pin safety circuit comprises two protection components, of different types. In one set of examples, there is an electrically controlled isolation switch and an electronic switch which functions as a high voltage isolation barrier. The switch provides full galvanic contact separation, whereas the isolation barrier provides current protection if the isolation switch is not functional. In another set of examples, there is a mechanically controlled isolation switch and an electrical or electronic isolation barrier. This provides two levels of protection, but requiring only a single manual operation by the installer of the lighting device. It avoids end-of-life protection circuitry being triggered during the installation of the lighting device.
