Abstract: A system and method for increased safety of an MRI system is provided. The system includes a rampable main magnet of the MRI system, a main magnet power control for ramping the magnet on and off and a safety device in communication with the main magnet power control, wherein the safety device links the main magnet power control to a safety procedure. The method includes providing a safety device in communication with a power control of a rampable main magnet of the MRI system, wherein the power control ramps the main magnet on and off, and the safety device implements a safety procedure in response to the power control of the magnet.

Abstract: A surgical imaging system is described. The system includes first and second optical assemblies. Each optical assembly defines a respective optical axis, and each includes a respective set of one or more optics for adjusting field-of-view (FOV) and focus and a respective camera for capturing an image. The system includes a controller for controlling the optical assemblies and for switching the surgical imaging system between a coupled configuration and an uncoupled configuration. In the coupled configuration, the first optical assemblies are controlled to adjust the respective sets of optics and/or the respective optical axes in dependence on each other. In the uncoupled configuration, the optical assemblies are controlled to adjust the respective sets of optics, and the respective optical axes independently of each other.

Abstract: A method of imaging an implant device in a computing device is provided. The computing device includes a processor interconnected with a memory and a display. The method includes, at the processor: obtaining a first magnetic resonance (MR) image of a patient tissue, the first MR image containing a first magnetic field strength indicator; responsive to the implant device being inserted in the patient tissue, obtaining a second MR image of the patient tissue, the second MR image containing a second magnetic field strength indicator smaller than the first magnetic field strength indicator; registering the second MR image with the first MR image; generating a composite image from the first MR image and the second MR image; and presenting the composite image on the display.

Abstract: A system and method for detecting an MR incompatible object in an MR environment is provided. One or more sensors of a detection system continuously scan for MR-incompatible objects. When an object is detected in the vicinity of the MRI, a warning system in communication with the detection system provides a warning. The detection system may also determine whether the object is in a defined warning zone, safety zone, or critical safety zone. A warning is issued if the object is in the warning zone. The main magnetic field of the MRI is removed if the object is in the safety or critical safety zone. Further safety measures may also be deployed.
