Abstract: A method of discharging a battery assembly includes detecting, with aid of a timer, when the battery assembly is not in use for a threshold length of time, where the battery assembly is configured to power at least a part of a movable object. The method further includes initiating a controlled self-discharge of the battery assembly when the battery assembly is not in use for the threshold length of time; and during the controlled self-discharge of the battery assembly, in response to detecting that the battery assembly is activated or detecting that the movable object is powered on or detecting that current is flowing from the battery assembly, terminating the controlled self-discharge of the battery assembly regardless whether the battery assembly voltage drops to a threshold voltage value.

Abstract: A method of discharging a battery assembly used to power at least part of an object includes detecting when power to the object is turned off, detecting, with aid of a timer, an amount of time elapsed since the power to the object is turned off, and initiating a controlled self-discharge of the battery assembly when the amount of time exceeds a threshold length of time. The controlled self-discharge of the battery assembly is performed by a self-discharging circuit electrically coupled to the battery assembly.
