    Abstract: An electronic device is provided. The electronic device includes a housing including a first surface and a second surface facing in an opposite direction of the first surface, a display exposed through the first surface of the housing and including a plurality of pixels, at least one illumination sensor disposed between the display and the second surface of the housing or disposed in the display, at least one processor electrically connected with the display and the at least one illumination sensor, and a memory electrically connected with the at least one processor, wherein the memory may store instructions configured to, upon execution by the at least one processor, cause the at least one processor to control to transmit to the display image data to be output through the plurality of pixels of the display, receive illumination-related data obtained by detecting light outside the first surface of the housing using the at least one illumination sensor, and change a brightness of at least a portion of the display based on at least a portion of the transmitted image data and the illumination-related data.

    Abstract: A method of operating an electronic device is provided. The method includes detecting a plurality of fingerprint drags after a touch on a portion of the electronic device, wherein each of the plurality of fingerprint drags is a consecutive drag from a previous drag and each of the plurality of fingerprint drags has a different orientation from each other; and identifying a fingerprint based on a plurality of images acquired from the plurality of fingerprint drags, wherein each of the plurality of images is compared with corresponding portion of a reference image.
