Abstract: A remote data concentrator includes an enclosure with an interior divided into first and second compartments, a first transceiver, and a second transceiver. The first transceiver is seated within the first compartment and the second transceiver is seated within the second compartment. The first and second compartments are radio-frequency isolated such that the transceivers can independently communicate with external wireless devices and communicate with one another for testing readiness of the RDC for communication with external wireless devices.

Abstract: A channel management method includes determining utilization of a primary wireless channel, determining utilization of one or more secondary wireless channels, and comparing utilization of the primary wireless channel with utilization of the each of the one or more secondary wireless channels. If utilization of a secondary wireless channel of the one or more secondary wireless channels is lower than the utilization of the primary channel, data communication between a data concentrator and a remote wireless node is routed from the primary channel to the secondary channel.

Abstract: A data transmission system and method includes a network coordinator and a node. The node is configured to execute a schedule that may be a default schedule or may be a schedule received from the network coordinator. The schedule includes a wake period and a sleep period. The node is configured to passively listen for commands from the network coordinator during the wake period, and to not listen for the commands from the network coordinator during the sleep period.
