    Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure provide a method and an apparatus including processing circuitry for video decoding. The processing circuitry can decode coding information for a block from a coded video bitstream. The coding information can indicate an intra prediction mode for the block and one or a combination of transform partitioning information for the block, a size of the block, and a shape of the block. The processing circuitry can determine whether a secondary transform is disabled for the block based on the one or the combination of the transform partitioning information for the block, the size of the block, and the shape of the block. The processing circuitry can reconstruct the block based on the determination of whether the secondary transform is disabled for the block.

    Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure provide a method and an apparatus including processing circuitry for video decoding. The processing circuitry determines a transform candidate for a block in a current picture from a group of transform sets based on one of a feature vector {right arrow over (F)} or a feature scalar S extracted from reconstructed samples in one or more neighboring blocks of the block. Each transform set of the group of transform sets can include one or more transform candidates for the block. The one or more neighboring blocks can be in the current picture or a reconstructed picture different from the current picture. The processing circuitry reconstructs samples of the block based on the determined transform candidate. The processing circuitry can select a sub-group of transform sets from the group of transform sets based on a prediction mode for the block indicated in coded information for the block and determine the transform candidate from the sub-group of transform sets based on the reconstructed samples.
