Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a method of reactivating the surface of an organic paint coating, a method of facilitating adhesion of a further coating to the organic paint coating, and a substrate having a reactivated organic paint coating. There is also disclosed a surface reactivation treatment for an organic paint coating. The reactivation method also facilitates adhesion of the organic paint coating to further coating(s) across a broad application window.

Abstract: A material system including a plurality of expandable pellets or a monolithic flexible carrier is disclosed, each of which may include a polymer matrix configured to hold an expandable core, and a flexible skin configured to encapsulate the polymer matrix, and where the flexible skin is at least partially permeable with respect to the expandable core or a gas released by the expandable core. Implementations of the material system may include where the polymer matrix may include a thermoplastic polymer. The material system may include a charging source configured to introduce blowing agent. A method of curing a composite part is also described.

Abstract: An adhesion promoter composition is including one or more reactive silanes, one or more swelling agents, and one or more organic solvents, where the one or more reactive silanes forms a complex with the one or more swelling agents is disclosed. The one or more reactive silanes may include an amine functional group, an epoxy functional group, a mercapto functional group, an isocyanate functional group, or a combination thereof. The one or more swelling agents is selected from a group which may include phenol or naphthol derivatives. A composite part including the adhesion promoter composition and a method for applying the adhesion promoter composition is also disclosed.
