    Abstract: In a method for video decoding in a video decoder, a maximum transform size associated with a video sequence is determined. The maximum transform size is indicated by a syntax element associated with the video sequence. Whether a coding unit (CU) size of a CU of the video sequence is larger than the maximum transform size is determined. When the CU size is less than the maximum transform size, a sub-block transform (SBT) mode is enabled. When the CU size is larger than the maximum transform size, the CU is split into a plurality of first transform units (TUs) and when intra sub partition (ISP) mode is enabled, one of the plurality of first TUs is split into a plurality of second TUs. The CU is reconstructed based on whether the CU size is larger than the maximum transform size.

    Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure provide a method and an apparatus for video decoding. The apparatus includes processing circuitry that determines motion information of a current block. The motion information indicates one or more reference blocks of the current block. If a motion information constraint indicates that the one or more reference blocks are within picture boundaries of respective one or more reference pictures, the processing circuitry reconstructs the current block based on the one or more reference blocks. If a first motion vector (MV) points from a region in the current block to a first reference region of a first reference block that is outside a picture boundary of a first reference picture, the processing circuitry determines a first clipped MV pointing from the region to an updated first reference region by clipping the first MV where the updated first reference region is within the picture boundary.

    Abstract: In a method for video decoding in a video decoder, at least one syntax element is decoded from a coded video sequence. The at least one syntax element is indicative of an intra prediction mode. An intra prediction angle that corresponds to the intra prediction mode is determined based on a predetermined relationship between a plurality of intra prediction modes and a plurality of intra prediction angles. At least one sample of a block is reconstructed using the intra prediction angle that is determined to correspond to the intra prediction mode. The current picture is divided into a plurality of units and divided into a plurality of tiles. Each tile includes at least one unit of the plurality of units.     Abstract: Prediction information for a current block in a current picture is decoded, the prediction information indicating whether the current block is coded in matrix based intra prediction (MIP). When the current block is coded in the MIP, an MIP mode index indicating one of a plurality of MIP modes is determined. When the current block is not coded in the MIP and one of a plurality of neighboring blocks is coded in the MIP, an intra prediction candidate mode for the current block is determined to be a Planar intra prediction mode.     Abstract: A method for video encoding includes determining a corresponding motion vector for each of multiple control points of a base predictor. The method further includes determining a corresponding motion vector difference for each of the multiple control points of the base predictor based on the determined motion vector for each respective control point. The method further includes generating prediction information of the current block to be included in a coded video bitstream. The prediction information includes (i) a usage flag indicative of the affine merge mode with offset, (ii) offset parameters defining the determined corresponding motion vector difference for each of the one or more of the control points, and (iii) a zero motion vector difference flag for the multiple control points of the base predictor. The zero motion vector difference flag indicates whether offset parameters for the respective control point are provided in the prediction information.

    Abstract: One or more intra mode predictors of a current block are determined, where the one or more intra mode predictors are derived based on the neighboring samples of the current block via either a decoder side intra mode derivation (DIMD) or a template-based intra mode derivation (TIMD). Whether a position dependent intra prediction combination (PDPC) is to be applied is determined based on the one or more intra mode predictors. In response to the determining that the PDPC is to be applied, a fusion process is performed on the one or more intra mode predictors to combine the one or more intra mode predictors into a single intra mode predictor. The PDPC is applied based on the single intra mode predictor to generate a modified predictor of the current block. The current block is reconstructed based on the modified predictor generated by the PDPC.
