Abstract: Systems and methods for anonymizing image data are disclosed herein. An example implementation includes: capturing, with an indicia reader, an image data of a field of view (FOV) associated with an imager within the indicia reader; determining, with the indicia reader, a facial area within the image data; producing, with the indicia reader, an anonymized image data by altering pixel data of the facial area of the image data; and (i) storing the anonymized image data in a nonvolatile memory of the indicia reader, or (ii) transmitting the anonymized image data from the indicia reader to one or more host processors.

Abstract: Techniques for weight checking to verify ticket switching are disclosed. The system includes a weighing scale, cameras to capture images of items and their barcodes, a processor, and memory with instructions. The processor determines a first identification from the barcode image and a second identification from the item image. It compares these identifications to check for a match. If they do not match, it prompts the user to place the item on the scale. If the item's weight does not match the expected weight for the first identification, the system triggers mitigation actions such as pausing transactions or alerting staff.t

Abstract: Techniques for item processing within a space are disclosed herein. An example method includes receiving item-identification data, the item-identification data based on vision data captured by a machine vision component and/or a user-provided data captured by a user interface; receiving, via the user interface, input from a user indicating a selected item category for the item; determining, based on the item-identification data and the selected category, at least one of: (i) the user visited a location within the space associated with items in the selected category; or (ii) the user did not visit the location within the space associated with the items in the selected category; responsive to determining (i), generating, by the processor, a first response signal associated with the item; and responsive to determining (ii), generating, by the processor, a second response signal associated with the item including an alert signal associated with an item mismatch.

Abstract: Imaging systems for imaging or scanning objects by redirecting portions of a field of view (FOV) are described herein. An example imaging system includes: an imaging assembly; a platter including a redirection element; and a computer-readable media storing machine readable instructions that cause the imaging system to: capture the image data in the FOV, wherein a first subset of pixels captures a first subset of the image data associated with a first portion of the FOV not redirected by the redirection element, and a second subset of pixels captures a second subset of the image data associated with a redirected portion of the FOV redirected by the redirection element; process the first subset of image data via a first module to perform a first vision operation; and process the second subset of image data via a second module to perform a second vision operation.

Abstract: Systems and methods for detecting potential shrink events within a venue are provided. The example systems include, a plurality of RFID readers disposed throughout the venue and a controller operatively coupled to the plurality of RFID readers. The controller includes a processor and a non-transitory machine-readable memory storing machine-readable instructions that, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the example systems to (1) monitor RFID tag data associated with an RFID tag disposed within an environment, the RFID tag data including an environmental metric associated with at least a portion of the environment; and (2) responsive to a change in the RFID tag data exceeding a predetermined threshold, generate an alert indicative of a potential shrink event. The change in the RFID tag data may include a change in the environmental metric resulting from a positioning of the RFID tag relative to a body of an individual.

Abstract: Devices and methods for reading picklists are disclosed herein. An example barcode reader device includes an imaging assembly to capture images while scanning over picklist. The barcode reader includes a processing platform configured to decode, for each image, any newly appearing decodable barcode within the image, evaluate, using positional tracking, whether a decodable barcode is within a decode region of a field view, thereby indicating a barcode to decode, and instead of decoding that barcode, access previously stored decoded barcode data for the barcode and report that data, thereby allowing the barcode reader to avoid scanning and decoding the barcode at the decode region, and avoid on-axis reflection errors.
