Abstract: The system extracts water from lunar regolith and includes a regolith intake having a digging bucket that collects lunar regolith soil and a gravel separator that separates and discharges gravel and passes a mixture of ice-regolith powder having ice grains that are about 10-100 microns along the conveyor. A pneumatic separator receives the ice-regolith powder and pneumatically splits the ice-regolith powder into streams of different sized lithic fragments and ice particles per the ratio of inertial force and aerodynamic drag force of the lithic fragments and ice particles. Each split stream may include a magnetic separator that separates further the magnetic and paramagnetic lithic fragments from ice particles to discharge up to 80 percent of lithic fragments to slag.

Abstract: Methods and systems for recycling a printed circuit board (PCB). The printed circuit board is exposed to a swelling agent that causes an epoxy matrix of the printed circuit board to swell and disintegrate into particles. The particles of epoxy are then separated from the printed circuit board, leaving behind reinforcing fiber and metal containing components thereof. These remaining components are separated from each other and recycled separately using suitable processes. The epoxy particles are also recovered, and may be reduced to a monomer for use in synthesizing new epoxy. The swelling agent includes a carboxylic acid, preferably formic acid, as an active ingredient.

Abstract: A continuous discharge ceramic powered steel shot magnetic sweeper apparatus is disclosed. The magnetic sweeper apparatus consists of at least one handle, a frame, support wheel(s), a frontal debris bin, drive wheels, a finned tube housing a ceramic magnetic assembly. The ceramic magnetic assembly comprises a sealed magnetic drum and rotating non-ferrous finned tubes. The magnet is continuously cleaned off as the magnetic sweeper apparatus is pushed forward. Magnetic debris accumulates on the magnet assembly and is deposited in the frontal debris bin. The magnetic sweeper apparatus design utilizes field differences created by the magnet position and angle to achieve the automatic pick-up and drop-off of debris at different locations of the drum. Furthermore, the apparatus aims to solve this high-cost rare earth magnet problem by using lower cost ceramic magnets as an alternative.

Abstract: A gravity clean-off magnetic sweeper apparatus that connects to the front of industrial equipment or industrial vehicles where a bucket would normally go. The magnetic sweeper is lifted off the ground slightly and driven around an area to pick up metal debris. The collected debris is then cleaned off of the bottom of the invention by lifting it with the machine and pivoting it downward. As the magnetic sweeper is pivoted downward, the mass of the magnets, which is greater than its attraction force to the metal debris attached to the pan in between the magnet and the debris, allows the magnet to hang vertically, as the pan is forced away from the magnet. This removes the metal debris away from the magnetic field and allows it to fall from the magnetic sweeper.

Abstract: The current invention relates to the device and method to separate biological entities from a sample fluid by a microfluidic device. The claimed methods separate biological entities by differentiating the sizes of the biological entities with ultrasound modes. The claimed methods further utilize a multi-staged design that removes smaller size entities at earlier and wider sections and concentrates larger entities at later and narrower sections of a microfluidic channel.

Abstract: A temperature-controlled tramp metal separation assembly includes a core rod and a magnetic set. The core rod is made of non-magnetic materials and includes a chamber, a first end with an air inlet, and a second end with an air outlet. The magnetic set includes a plurality of magnetic members and a plurality of spacers respectively disposed between the two adjacent magnetic members. The magnetic set is nested in the chamber in a way that an air path is formed therein so that an external cooling air flow can be introduced from the air inlet, and then discharged from the air outlet via the air path. Thus, the operating temperature of the tramp metal separating process can be maintained at an acceptable level, preventing the magnetic force of the magnet set from being reduced.
