Abstract: The present invention relates, in various embodiments, to a portable device configured to perform processing operations in respect of fluid stored in a container. For example, some embodiments include a device which is configured to be inserted into a container holding fluid, and remain at a predefined level within that container. In some embodiments that predefined level is determined by the positioning of a magnet on a sidewall of the container. Although the present invention is described primarily in connection with such examples, it will be appreciated that further embodiments find wider application.

Abstract: A disinfection apparatus and method is provided for disinfecting a fluid. The apparatus elements define three internal container volumes. Fluid is introduced into an entry volume where its flow is conditioned to reduce splash and slow the fluid flow. The fluid is then channeled into a disinfection volume where a disinfection unit delivers a disinfection agent to the fluid. Finally, the fluid exits the apparatus through an exit volume. In one aspect, a sink-trap is disclosed in which wastewater liquid contacts a pair of diverters. The diverters have conditioned contact surfaces that slows and spreads the liquid flow and reduces liquid splash. The wastewater then passes through a UV chamber in which it is disinfected. The liquid then exits the sink-trap. Advanced self-cleaning apparatus are additionally disclosed to clean and disinfect the sink-trap and trapped wastewater. The entire apparatus operates under computer control.

Abstract: Methods for disinfecting water such as drinking water, waste water, service water, or process water, by means of UV lighting in a reactor device, in which water which is to be disinfected is introduced via an inlet in a reactor chamber of the reactor device, the water which is to be disinfected in the reactor chamber is illuminated with UV light by means of a UV lighting system, and disinfected water is discharged from the reactor chamber via an outlet, wherein furthermore the following is provided: provision of the UV light by means of an arrangement of UV light emitting diodes of the UV lighting system of the reactor device; operating the UV light emitting diodes by means of a driver system of the reactor device associated with the arrangement of UV light emitting diodes; controlling an operation of the driver system by means of a control system of the reactor device; monitoring of at least one electrical operating parameter for the arrangement of UV light emitting diodes during the disinfecting of the water by means of the UV light with the aid of a monitoring system of the reactor device, which is connected to the control system; comparing a current measurement value for the at least one electrical operating parameter, which is detected by means of the monitoring system, with a comparative value for the at least one electrical operating parameter; generating of control signals as a function of the result of the comparison of current measurement value and comparative value for the at least one electrical operating parameter by means of the control system; and controlling the operation of the reactor device in accordance with the control signals. Furthermore, a reactor device is provided.

Abstract: Ultraviolet irradiation of an aquatic environment for the purposes of sterilization, disinfection, and/or cleaning fluids and surfaces associated with the aquatic environment. The aquatic environment can be irradiated using an ultraviolet illuminator having at least one ultraviolet radiation source and at least one sensor to detect conditions of the aquatic environment including fluid conditions and/or surface conditions associated with the aquatic environment. A control unit, operatively coupled to the at least one ultraviolet radiation source and the at least one sensor, determines a presence of algae growth about the aquatic environment. The control unit is further configured to direct the at least one ultraviolet radiation source to irradiate the aquatic environment at locations where there is a presence of algae growth for removal and suppression of further growth, monitor the irradiation with the at least one sensor, and adjust irradiation parameters as a function of detected conditions.

Abstract: A system includes memory banks that store data and a data path coupled to the memory banks that transfers the data. The system also includes a latch that gates the data path based on a clock signal in the system. The system further includes interface circuitry coupled to the data path that sends an instruction to the memory banks to transmit the data on the data path in response to receiving a first rising edge of the clock signal. The interface circuitry also outputs gated data in response to receiving a second rising edge of the clock signal. The latch gates the data path to store the gated data in response to receiving a falling edge of the clock signal.

Abstract: A solution for treating a fluid, such as water, is provided. An ultraviolet transparency of a fluid can be determined before or as the fluid enters a disinfection chamber. In the disinfection chamber, the fluid can be irradiated by ultraviolet radiation to harm microorganisms that may be present in the fluid. One or more attributes of the disinfection chamber, fluid flow, and/or ultraviolet radiation can be adjusted based on the transparency to provide more efficient irradiation and/or higher disinfection rates. In addition, various attributes of the disinfection chamber, such as the position of the inlet(s) and outlet(s), the shape of the disinfection chamber, and other attributes of the disinfection chamber can be utilized to create a turbulent flow of the fluid within the disinfection chamber to promote mixing and improve uniform ultraviolet exposure.
