A toner image forming device includes a first toner image forming section including a charged first image holding member, a first exposing unit that emits light onto the first image holding member to form a latent image thereon, and a first developing unit that develops the latent image by a black toner to form a toner image, a second toner image forming section including a charged second image holding member, a second exposing unit that emits light onto the second image holding member to form a latent image thereon, and a second developing unit that develops the latent image by a toner of color other than black to form a toner image, and a controller that performs control so that the number of toners that the second toner image forming section uses is larger than the number of toners that the first toner image forming section uses.

Provided is a fixing device including a transparent belt, a press roller that is rotated with being opposed to and contacting with the transparent belt, and transports a recording medium interposed therebetween, a press member-cum-optical system that contacts with the transparent belt from an opposite side to the press roller, forms a press region for pressing a toner image formed on the recording medium in cooperation with the press roller during transport of the recording medium, and collects laser light on the toner image in the press region in a transport direction of the recording medium, and a laser light irradiation unit that irradiates the press member-cum-optical system with laser light.

The present invention provides an electrophotographic toner comprising a polyester resin as binder resin and a colorant, said polyester resin being the condensation product of at least one polyhydric alcohol with at least one polybasic acid, wherein said at least one polyhydric alcohol comprises cyclohexanedimethanol, said toner having a loss modulus of from 2×103 Pa to 3×104 Pa at 110° C. and being irradiated with only laser light for fixing. According to toner of the invention, high quality toner images can be fixed with desired fastness and without white spots.

A fixing device includes a fixing unit and a switching unit. The fixing unit includes an emitting unit that emits light and a housing that houses the emitting unit. The fixing unit fixes a toner image to a recording medium by emitting the light to a surface of the recording medium, the recording medium having the toner image formed thereon and having been transported to a predetermined fixing position that is away from the housing. The switching unit switches a state of the fixing device from a first state in which the housing and the recording medium are positioned away from each other to a second state in which the surface of the recording medium at the fixing position is sealed with the housing.

The present invention realizes: a toner that ensures fixing property only by a laser fixing system where a toner is fixed by irradiation of laser light whose wavelength is adjusted to be in an absorption wavelength range of each color of the toner, and realizes an image without poor color reproducibility caused by an infrared absorbent; a two-component developer containing the toner; a developing device; a fixing device; and an image forming apparatus. A capsule toner, which is the toner of the present invention, is arranged such that the capsule toner has a two-layer structure where a coating layer is formed around a surface of a core particle serving as a toner matrix particle, and nb/na is in a range of 0.92 to 0.96 where nb/na is a ratio of a refractive index of a resin making up the coating layer (nb) to a refractive index of a resin making up the core particle (na).
