Abstract:
A method of manufacturing a high-pressure discharge lamp, comprising the steps of: inserting a mount into an interior of a glass tube having an outer diameter smaller than an inner diameter of an end part of a sealed container; radially constricting the glass tube at a first position located away from a metallic foil toward a tip of an electrode; sealing the mount by a region of the glass tube that ranges from the first position to at least the other end of the metallic foil; protruding the electrode out of the glass tube located away from the first position toward the tip of the electrode to form a glass-tube air-tightly sealed mount; inserting the sealed mount into the end part of the sealed container; and radially constricting the end part of the sealed container to sealing the glass tube of the sealed mount by the end part.
Abstract:
A stranded outer lead wire assembly for a quartz pinch sealed lamp. The stranded outer lead wire assembly is a butt welded connection of a refractory metal outer pinch lead (e.g., molybdenum solid wire) and a stranded soft metal lead wire (e.g., nickel wire strands twisted together). The assembly is prefabricated and then welded to sealing foil to make a four part foliated lead wire assembly for pinch sealing in the quartz outer jacket. The foliated lead wire assembly and a quartz envelope lamp utilizing the stranded outer lead wire assembly are also claimed. The sealing machine is adapted to protect the stranded outer lead assembly with a water cooled sleeve. In an embodiment, the outer end of the stranded lead is fused to prevent fraying.

Abstract:
According to one embodiment, a socket includes a main body section, a terminal provided in the main body section and assuming a cylindrical shape, a lead wire being welded to an end face provided at one end portion of the terminal, and an insulating section provided on the inside of the terminal, including a hole section through which the lead wire is inserted, and containing resin. When the cross sectional dimension of the lead wire is represented as W and the opening dimension of the hole section on the end face side is represented as “a”, the socket satisfies the following expression: 1.5 W≦a≦2.5 W

Abstract:
A method for producing a molybdenum film for lamp construction is provided. The method may include roughening at least a part of the surface of the molybdenum film by sandblasting with a sandblasting means, wherein the sandblasting means contains at least one of aluminum oxide and quartz sand as well as at least one further component.
Abstract:
A thick-walled electroded lamp (11) has molybdenum cup seals (10) attached to both ends. The seals have tungsten electrodes (14) extending into the void (15) formed by the bore of the thick walled tube. Further the seals comprise molybdenum cups (16) having feather edges (17) set in the ends of short thin wall quartz tubes (18) fused to the ends of the thick walled quartz tube (12). The electrodes are brazed to the cups at joints (19). The lamp can be filled with its noble gas and metal halide charge, or other excitable material fill through an auxiliary exhaust tube (20) attached just in front of the cupped seal.
Abstract:
The electric lamp comprises a discharge vessel (1) which has pinched seals (4) of H-shaped cross-section. A pair of metal mounting members (10) are clicked on each pinched seal (4) to allow the lamp to be mounted in a tubular quartz glass sleeve. The lamp may be used to sterilize a liquid which is made to flow past the glass sleeve. The lamp can be easily mounted into and removed from the glass sleeve.
Abstract:
A vehicular discharge lamp includes a pair of electrodes including sealed portions sealed in a pair of pinch seal portions of a light emitting tube, wherein each of the sealed portions is segmented into: a first intermediate region positioned in the middle of the electrode in an axial direction; two end regions configured as both end portions of the sealed portion in the axial direction; and two second intermediate regions positioned between the first intermediate region and the end regions, respectively, wherein concave or convex fabrication portions are formed in the second intermediate regions, and wherein a ratio of formation area of the fabrication portions to an area of an outer peripheral surface of the first intermediate region is set to be smaller than that of the formation area of the fabrication portions to an area of outer peripheral surfaces of the second intermediate regions.
