Abstract:
A drift tube construction includes a thin wall aluminum tube with a thin wire at its center attached to a terminal. The tube is plugged at both ends. The terminal is embedded at the center of the plug with material insulating it from Drift tube main body. The Drift tube assembly is sealed and filled with a gas mixture. A voltage is applied to the thin wire via the terminal. Current drift tubes employ plastic material to insulate the terminal from Drift tube main body and O-rings to provide a near hermetic seal.

Gas discharge tube having glass seal. In some embodiments, a gas discharge tube can include an insulator layer having first and second sides and defining an opening, and first and second electrodes that cover the opening on the first and second sides of the insulator layer, respectively. The gas discharge tube can further include a first glass layer implemented between the first electrode and the first side of the insulator layer, and a second glass layer implemented between the second electrode and the second side of the insulator layer, such that the first and second glass layers provide a seal for a chamber defined by the opening and the first and second electrodes.

Abstract:
The present invention provides a method for manufacturing radiation detectors such as Geiger-Müller detectors. The method includes pre-forming a frit ring via extrusion or stamping. The preformed frit ring is placed in the aperture of a metal cathode body along with a radiation transparent window made of mica. The window is slightly larger than the perimeter of the aperture, thereby forming an overlap area. The frit ring is placed between the cathode and window within this overlap area. The assembled components are then fired at an appropriate temperature to cause fusion of the frit with the metal cathode and window to form a gas-tight seal.

A method for manufacturing a discharge tube, including heating a quartz tube by irradiation and closing it shut, is presented, in which variation of the heating temperature of the quartz tube can be reduced. Laser light is irradiated on a portion of the quartz tube, and in the step of sealing the portion of the quartz tube onto which laser light has been irradiated, the laser light is scanned while oscillating back and forth. The intensity of the laser light is controlled such that the intensity of the laser light when the size of a displacement of the laser light is maximal is smaller than the intensity of the laser light when the size of the displacement of the laser light is minimal.

Provided is an integrated gas discharge tube. In the integrated gas discharge tube, the structure of the gas discharge tube is regulated into an upper cover and an insulative base, and the internal side surface and the external side surface of the bottom surface of the insulative base are respectively subject to electrode integration, so that the discharge effect of the gas discharge tube is effectively increased and the preparation process and the preparation flow of a multi-terminal-to-ground gas discharge tube are greatly simplified so as to greatly simplify the preparation process and to realize batch production and high integration of the gas discharge tube. Also provided is a preparation method for an integrated gas discharge tube.
