Abstract: A load control device for controlling power delivered from a power source to an electrical load may comprise a control circuit configured to control the load regulation circuit to control the power delivered to the electrical load. The control circuit may be configured to operate in an AC mode when an input voltage is an AC voltage and in a DC mode when the input voltage is a DC voltage. The control circuit may be configured to disable the power converter in the DC mode. The control circuit may be configured to render a controllable switching circuit conductive in the AC mode, and non-conductive in the DC mode. The rectifier circuit may be configured to rectify the input voltage to generate a rectified voltage when the input voltage is an AC voltage, and to pass through the input voltage when the input voltage is a DC voltage.

Abstract: A switch includes a first terminal, a second terminal, and a third terminal. The switch includes an output node coupled to the second terminal and the third terminal. The switch includes a contactor coupled to the first terminal and movable between at least a first position and a second position. The first terminal is coupled to the second terminal when the contactor is in the first position. The first terminal is coupled to the third terminal when the contactor is in the second position. When the contactor is in the first position, the switch is configured to provide direct current power at the output node. When the contactor is in the second position, the switch is configured to provide alternating current power at the output node.

At least part of the energy for the driving is drawn from the energy store. The DC voltage is less than the peak value of the AC voltage.

Abstract: A voltage doubling circuit that increases input voltage to higher output voltage connected to a variable frequency drive. The voltage doubling circuit can include a power input that receives the input voltage from a power source and a first capacitor bank and a second capacitor bank connected with the power input. A current-limiting surge suppressor is positioned between the power input and the first capacitor bank and the second capacitor bank. The current-limiting surge suppressor includes a first current-limiting path and a second bypass path. A drain, when operable, dissipates the charge of the first capacitor bank and the second capacitor bank. A variable frequency drive (VFD) is operable in response to the higher voltage output from the first capacitor bank and the second capacitor bank.

Abstract: A hybrid rectifier that works as either a hybrid full bridge or a voltage doubler. Under 220 V AC input condition, the hybrid rectifier operates in full bridge mode, while at 110 V AC input, it operates as voltage doubler rectifier. The hybrid rectifier may be used with a DC-DC converter, such as an LLC resonant converter, in a power supply. With this mode switching, the LLC converter resonant tank design only takes consideration of 220 V AC input case, such that the required operational input voltage range is reduced, and the efficiency of the LLC converter is optimized. Both the size and power loss are reduced by using a single stage structure instead of the conventional two-stage configuration.
