Abstract: A user equipment unit (30) and a base station node (28) which is configured for operation with a synchronous HARQ protocol and with capability of sending data on an E-DCH channel either (1) in a nominal mode in single transmission time intervals of a predetermined length, or (2) in an extended mode in a pseudo transmission time interval. The pseudo transmission time interval comprises a first transmission time interval in which the data is transmitted and a second transmission time interval in which the data is re-transmitted. The second transmission time interval is consecutive to the first transmission time interval, and the first transmission time interval and the second transmission time interval are each of the (same) predetermined length.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided to improve a communication channel dynamically and autonomously based on the status of the communication traffic on the communication channel between a first integrated circuit (IC) and a second IC. The communication traffic on the communication channel can be monitored, and latency, bandwidth, link quality, or power consumption associated with the communication channel for the monitored communication traffic can be determined dynamically. A modified protocol for the communication channel that can improve the communication channel as compared to an existing protocol can be determined based on the information related to the latency, bandwidth, link quality, or the power consumption. The existing protocol can be changed autonomously to the modified protocol as the communication traffic varies.

The systems and methods provide an additional layer of security for computer systems by using network presence sensing (NPS) to detect the presence or absence of a user physically present at a computer system and if an authorized user is detected as having departed, taking a security action in response. The response may be to lock the computer, encrypted sensitive data, and so forth. The concept may also be applied at a facilities level, in computing pools, and in other instances physical presence or absence of a user at a computer is indicative of a need for a change in system state. This change could be security related, or could pertain to other resources.

The transceiver comprises one or more processors configured to associate a quality of service (QoS) grade tag to each data packet of a plurality of data packets to be transmitted and assemble a data transfer unit (DTU) comprising one or more or a part of a data packet of the plurality of data packets, wherein the one or more or the part of the data packet are encapsulated into a plurality of DTU frames within the DTU. The one or more processors is further configured to associate a highest DTU tag to the assembled DTU, wherein the highest DTU tag is indicative of a highest QoS grade associated with the DTU frames of the assembled DTU; and determine a schedule for transmission or retransmission of the assembled DTU, based on the highest DTU tag of the assembled DTU.

Abstract: A method operative in conjunction with a cellular communication network having a core element and comprising providing moving relays including base and mobile station functionality and a relay resource manager, all co-located, including providing an emergency moving relay from among the moving relays further including a simulated stationary network that includes a simulated IP connectivity gateway communicating with a simulated mobility management entity. The simulated stationary network simulates a stationary network's operation; the emergency moving relay being a root of a sub tree that includes moving relays and mobile stations, and is configured to utilize its mobile and base station functionalities and relay resource manager for operating in:(i) normal mode: emergency moving relay communicates with other relays in the network and with the stationary network;(ii) emergency mode, including, in response to an emergency event, finding new networks to connect to.

Abstract: In methods, systems, and devices, master and slave node timestamp synchronization units identify a node start frame delimiter of a time protocol message on transmission medium by matching patterns in the time protocol message to known start frame delimiter patterns. Master and slave node processors of such timestamp synchronization units capture a corresponding node clock time at which the node start frame delimiter is identified by referring to a corresponding node clock signal while each is identifying the node start frame delimiter. The master and slave node processors perform compensation of the node clock time by making adjustments to the node clock time for known time latency. The master and slave node timestamp synchronization units then output the node clock time as timestamps to corresponding timestamp units.
