Abstract:
A continuous galvanizing system includes a feed system for providing a continuous supply of material to be galvanized. A furnace receives the material from the feed system for heating the material. A continuous flux line applies liquid flux to the heated material at an exit end of the furnace prior to exposing the material to atmosphere. A zinc furnace galvanizes the heated material.
Abstract:
A liquid dispensing module and nozzle or die tip for discharging at least one liquid filament. The nozzle includes a strand guide for guiding a substrate past the nozzle and a frustoconical protrusion disposed on a surface of the nozzle adjacent the notch. A liquid discharge passage extends along an axis through the frustoconical protrusion and forms an acute angle with a machine direction corresponding to movement of the strand past the nozzle. Four air discharge passages are positioned at the base of the frustoconical protrusion. Each of the air discharge passages is angled in a compound manner generally toward the liquid discharge passage and offset from the axis of the liquid discharge passage to create the controlled pattern of liquid material on the strand.
Abstract:
A coating layer, which has the property of releasing a coated liquid, is formed on the outer peripheral surface of a cylindrical rod. The rod is engaged with a first roll, and rotates in a predetermined direction. A coating liquid is supplied to a nip surface portion between the first roll and the rod in the predetermined direction, and a film of coating liquid is formed on the outer peripheral surface of the first roll. After the thickness of the coating-liquid film is adjusted at the nip surface portion, the thickness-adjusted film is transferred from the first roll onto a surface of the base paper directly, or indirectly through the second roll.
Abstract:
A wallpaper dispensing apparatus includes a tray with a ridge projecting from the bottom and extending transversely between the side walls to divide the tray into a forward pool section and a rearward trough section. A removable cover is attached to the forward pool section and includes a pair of depressions with guide surfaces on the bottom, spaced above the bottom of the tray to form a passageway between the cover and tray bottom. the cover has a rearward portion following a portion of the ridge, and a straight rearward edge extending transversely across the tray. An opening in the cover, extending from the forward edge permits the user to draw a strip of wallpaper from a roll located in the trough, through the passageway between the cover and tray, and out the forward end of the tray. Water in the pool portion wets the wallpaper as it is drawn from the dispensing apparatus.
Abstract:
A nitrogen injection assembly for use in coloring and curing optical fibers is disclosed. The nitrogen injection assembly includes a cover section and a distribution seal. An optical fiber coated with ink passes from a coating die to a curing chamber via a passageway defined by the cover section and the distribution seal. The distribution seal injects nitrogen into the passageway to keep the coated fiber and the curing chamber substantially free of oxygen. With the distribution seal positioned closer to the curing chamber than the cover section, the apparatus minimizes the risk of leaks in the passageway and the number of required seals.
Abstract:
A tip assembly includes a tip having a nose portion. The tip defines a central bore. The nose portion includes a lip portion and defines a counterbore. The counterbore has a counterbore side wall and a seat surface. The counterbore is contiguous with the central bore. An insert member includes an inner surface, an outer surface and a side wall. The inner surface is opposite the outer surface. The side wall interconnects the inner surface and the outer surface. The insert defines a central aperture that extends from the inner surface to the outer surface. The insert is disposed within the counterbore such that the central aperture is substantially concentric with the central bore of the tip. The lip portion of the tip engages the outer surface of the insert.
Abstract:
A coater comprises upstream and down stream side bars between which a pocket and a slit are formed. The coating apparatus satisfies the following conditional formula: 6(t13nullt2null3)nullhwnullunullLs(Ls/2nullLp)L3/(h4E)nullnullhdmax/hd where Ls is a length (mm) of the slit, h is a gap (mm) of the slit, Lp is a length (mm) of a cross section of the pocket, LnullLsnullLp, E is a Young's modulus (Pa) of the upstream and downstream bars, t1 and t2 are a thickness (mm) of the thinnest portion of the upstream and downstream side bars at the pocket, null is a viscosity (Panulls), u is a coating speed (mm/s), and nullhdmax is a permissible maximum value (mm) among differences nullhd (mm) between the maximum value and the minimum value in the dispersion of a dried layer thickness hd.
Abstract:
A slurry loading apparatus for automatically loading a slurry into a substrate. The apparatus includes a pasting head. The pasting head includes a cavity that fills with slurry creating a pressure that forces the slurry onto the surface of the substrate and into the voids of the substrate. The slurry loading apparatus may include a feedback control loop that controls the rate in which slurry is delivered to the pasting head.
