Abstract:
A method for treating wood surfaces. The wood surface is coated with a coating including (a) a filler/primer component comprising a mixture of from about 20% to about 50% by weight of the filler/primer component of a resin selected from vinyl ester resins and vinyl ester resins in combination with polyester resins, from about 5% to about 35% by weight of the filler/primer component of a sprayable filler selected from calcium carbonate, talc, and combinations thereof, from about 5% to about 10% by weight of the filler/primer component of pigment, from about 1% to about 15% by weight of the filler/primer component of a mixture of thixotropic clays, from about 0% to about 2% by weight of the filler/primer component of activated fumed silica, from about 1% to about 10% by weight of the filler/primer component of a phosphosilicate, from about 0% to about 2% by weight of the filler/primer component of an accelerator, and from about 0% to about 20% by weight of the filler/primer component of an organic solvent, and (b) a catalyst component.
Abstract:
Thermally curable aqueous compositions comprising a low-acid and an acid-rich polymer component and also a hydroxyalkylated amine are used as binders for shaped articles.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to in situ polymerization of fluoropolymer into porous substrates, to improve resistance to degradation by wetting and staining, and wood, to improve resistance to degradation, staining and warping.
Abstract:
The invention concerns a method for the application of lacquer to edges on plates and lists especially of the porous type which are used within the furniture industry, where by changing the CAD reference dimension of the edge profile lacquer dosing unit it is possible to apply differentiated amounts of lacquer to predetermined areas. The invention also concerns a system for the application of lacquer to the edges on plates and lists, especially of the porous type used in the furniture industry. Among other things, the system comprises one or more application rollers (9), possibly with a groove (10) in the surface of the individual roller (9) which can correspond to the edge profile, (18) to which the lacquer is to be applied. The CAD reference can also be changed in the profile groove (10) of the application roller (9), or in both the roller (9) and the dosing unit (11). By using several units of appication rollers (9) in succession; a particularly fine surface is obtained by allowing the appication roller (9) which is placed last in the direction in which the work piece (18) is fed, to rotate in the opposite direction, whereby the excess lacquer is removed while at the same time a very well-defined thickness of lacquer is achieved. The method and the system are especially applicable in the lacquering of chipboards and similar porous plates which are not homogeneous.
Abstract:
A method of manufacturing a finished product from a length of a lignocellulosic material, such as a length of solid wood or chip board, includes the steps of impregnating the length of lignocellulosic material through its depth with an impregnating composition comprising a mineral oil, a non-aqueous solvent for the material oil such as dichloromethane or super critical carbon dioxide, and a thermosetting resin and, if necessary, a catalyst therefore dissolved in the mineral oil and solvent. Thereafter, the non-aqueous solvent is removed and the product is subjected to an elevated temperature to polymerize the thermosetting resin to bind the mineral oil into the lignocellulosic material.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method of protecting wood against light-induced degradation by treatment with a stain or impregnation which penetrates the surface of the wood comprising a) at least one organic solvent; b) a hindered amine compound of formula I or II where G1 and G2 are independently alkyl of 1 to 4 carbon atoms or are together pentamethylene, Z1 and Z2 are each methyl, or Z1 and Z2 together form a linking moiety which may additionally be substituted by an ester, ether, hydroxy, oxo, cyanohydrin, amide, amino, carboxy or urethane group, E is oxyl or hydroxyl, X is an inorganic or organic anion, and where the total charge of cations h is equal to the total charge of anions j.
