Abstract: PURPOSE: A feed method of chlorine gas for the oxidation of aqueous ferrous chloride solution (FeCl2) to aqueous ferric chloride solution (FeCl3) is provided, which is characterized in that injection rate of chlorine gas is changed according to FeCl2 concentration during oxidizing reaction. Therefore non-reacted chlorine gas is not discharged. CONSTITUTION: The feed rate of chlorine gas is controlled by the formula: Cmax/Wcirc ∝ Fconc, where Cmax is injection rate of chlorine gas (kg/hr), Wcirc is circulation quantity of FeCl2/FeCl3 solution and Fconc is concentration of FeCl2. Total concentration of FeCl2/FeCl3 is 0.1 to 50 wt.% and the concentration of FeCl2 is 0.1 wt.% or more. The oxidizing reaction is operated at 40 to 80 deg.C.

Abstract: The 1,1,1,2-tetrafluoroethane(HFC-134a) is made by; (a) separating hydrogen chloride and HFC-134a from HCFC-133a obtained by the reaction of trichloroethylene(TCE) and hydrogen fluorine(HF) in a reactor for 1,1,1-trifluoro-2-chloroethane(HCFC-133a); (b) producing HCFC-133a by the reaction of the remaining, unreacted TCE and HF; (c) making HFC-134a by the reaction of HCFC-133a and HF in the reactor for HFC-134a; (d) recycling the mixture of the efflux from the HFC-134a reactor and TCE to the reactor for HCFC-133a.

Abstract: The arylene sulfide polymer is prepared by (1) reacting an alkali metal sulfide and polyhalogenated aromatic compound in an organic amide solvent, (2) dehydrating the reactant by distillation, (3) filtering the dehydrated and washing with methanol and hot water, and (4) drying. The absorbent packed into the aborbing tower is phosphorus pentoxide, zeolite, magnesium perchlorate, gamma-alumina, manganese dioxide, silica gel, sulfuric acid or their mixture. The polymer is useful for electronic and electric components and molded articles such as films, sheets and fibers.
