PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable electronic device that performs similar operations in response to different finger gestures.SOLUTION: In a computer-implemented method, the portable electronic device with a touch-sensitive display: displays an application on the touch-sensitive display; and when the application is in a predefined mode, performs a predefined operation in response to each gesture of a set of multiple distinct gestures on the touch-sensitive display. Another aspect of the invention involves a computer-implemented method in which the portable electronic device: displays a first application; when the first application is in a first mode, performs a first operation upon detecting a first gesture on the touch-sensitive display; and performs the first operation upon detecting a second gesture on the touch-sensitive display, the second gesture being different from the first gesture.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To unlock a device having a touch-sensitive display via gestures performed on the touch-sensitive display.SOLUTION: The device is unlocked if contact with the display corresponds to a predefined gesture for unlocking the device. The device displays one or more unlock images for the predefined gesture for unlocking the device. The performance of the predefined gesture with respect to the unlock image may include moving the unlock image to a predefined location and/or moving the unlock image along a predefined path. The device may also display visual cues of the predefined gesture on the touch screen to remind a user of the gesture.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and system for capturing a high quality digital image even under poor irradiation conditions. SOLUTION: This system and method for capturing a digital image is provided to irradiate a target with the rays of light for carrying out improved image capture under poor irradiation conditions. The various characteristics of flash (for example, brightness, color, duration and so on) can be adjusted to improve image capture. Users are provided with feedback (for example, live video image, audio and/or visual countdown or the like) to assist them in preparing for image capture. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide portable electronic devices that display structured electronic documents such as web pages on a touch screen display.SOLUTION: A computer-implemented method for use in conjunction with a portable electronic device with a touch screen display comprises displaying at least a portion of a structured electronic document on the touch screen display, where the structured electronic document comprises a plurality of boxes of content, and detecting a first gesture at a location on the displayed portion of the structured electronic document. A first box in the plurality of boxes at the location of the first gesture is determined. The first box on the touch screen display is enlarged and substantially centered.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable electronic device, especially, a portable device for photograph management such as digital photographing, photographing operation, and photographic electronic mail.SOLUTION: Disclosed is a portable electronic device equipped with a touch screen display for photograph management. In one configuration, the portable electronic device relates to a computer execution system method for displaying the array of thumb nail images corresponding to one set of photographic images. The device is configured to displace the array of the displayed thumb nail images with a photographic image selected by a user when a user contact with the corresponding thumb nail image in the array is detected. The photographic image selected by the user is displayed by a scale which is larger than that of the corresponding thumb nail image. The portable device is configured to display a different photographic image according to a scroll operation instead of the photographic image selected by the user. The scroll operation includes the substantially horizontal movement of the user contact with the touch screen display.
