PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide portable electronic devices, and particularly, portable devices for photo management, such as digital photographing, photo manipulation, and e-mailing photos.SOLUTION: The invention relates to a computer-implemented method in which a portable electronic device displays an array of thumbnail images corresponding to a set of photographic images. The device replaces the displayed array of thumbnail images with a user-selected photographic image upon detecting a user contact with a corresponding thumbnail image in the array. The user-selected photographic image is displayed at a larger scale than the corresponding thumbnail image. The portable device displays a different photographic image in replacement of the user-selected photographic image in accordance with a scrolling gesture. The scrolling gesture comprises a substantially horizontal movement of a user contact with the touch screen display.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable electronic device, especially, a portable device for photograph management such as digital photographing, photographing operation, and photographic electronic mail.SOLUTION: Disclosed is a portable electronic device equipped with a touch screen display for photograph management. In one configuration, the portable electronic device relates to a computer execution system method for displaying the array of thumb nail images corresponding to one set of photographic images. The device is configured to displace the array of the displayed thumb nail images with a photographic image selected by a user when a user contact with the corresponding thumb nail image in the array is detected. The photographic image selected by the user is displayed by a scale which is larger than that of the corresponding thumb nail image. The portable device is configured to display a different photographic image according to a scroll operation instead of the photographic image selected by the user. The scroll operation includes the substantially horizontal movement of the user contact with the touch screen display.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic apparatus for determining commands by applying heuristics to user gestures detected on a touch screen display. SOLUTION: A method for determining command by applying heuristics includes the steps of: detecting one or more finger contacts with a touch screen display; applying one or more heuristics to the one or more finger contacts to determine a command to a device; and processing the command. The one or more heuristics include: a heuristic for determining that the one or more finger contacts correspond to a one-dimensional vertical screen scrolling command; a heuristic for determining that the one or more finger contacts correspond to a two-dimensional screen translation command; and a heuristic for determining the one or more finger contacts correspond to a command to transition from displaying a respective item in a set of items to displaying a next item in the set of items. A task item is electronic data that represents a task to be performed, whether manually or automatically. A task item includes one or more details about its corresponding task, such as a description of the task and a location of the task. Specifically, techniques for generating task items, organizing task items, triggering notifications of task items, and consuming task items are described. In one approach, a task item is generated based on input from a user and context of the input. In another approach, different attributes of task items are used to organize the task items intelligently into multiple lists. In another approach, one or more criteria, such as location, are used to determine when to notify a user of a task item. In another approach, actions other than the generation of notification are enabled or automatically performed, actions such as emailing, calling, texting, and searching.
Abstract:
An accessory device application executes on an accessory device of limited resources. The accessory device application includes an accessory device stub application and an interface definition. When a user interacts with the accessory device application, display changes are generated in response, in accordance with the interface definition, and are sent to a companion extension at an associated companion device. The companion extension receives the changes, and generates updated display values for the accessory device display. The updated display values are sent from the companion device daemon to the daemon of the accessory device, which displays the updated display values at the accessory device display. The functionality and operation of the accessory device application permit an accessory device of limited resources to leverage data processing and computational power of the companion device, to provide a more involving user experience at the accessory device.
