Abstract: A laminate including a decorative material (A), a layer of cellular polyisocyanate/polyaddition elastomer (B) giving an outstanding Soft-Touch-Effect to a decorative, e.g. leather surface, combined with excellent residual elasticity is new. A composite structural unit (sic) including a decorative material (A), a layer of cellular polyisocyanate/polyaddition elastomer (CPIE) (B) of residual pressure deformation (sic) of 25% in accordance with DIN 53572, using a 40x40x30 mm test body without a silicone coating, with testing at constant deformation, where the test body is 40% compressed and held in a recirculated air facility (sic) for 22 hours at 80 deg C, after withdrawal from the facility the test device is held for 2 hours in the compressed state, cooled to room temperature, and the test body is withdrawn from the test device, and 10 minutes 30 seconds after withdrawal the height of the test body is measured to 0.1 mm accuracy, and a layer of back sprayed (sic) thermoplastic C. An Independent claim is also included for preparation of the laminate involving placing the material A in a tool mold (sic) with material A on both sides of the tool wall, using a cellular polyisocyanate/polyaddition elastomer (CPIE) (B) of residual pressure deformation (sic) of 25% in accordance with DIN 53572, and a 40x40x30 mm test body without a silicone coating as described above, with final measurement of the height of the test body to an accuracy of 0.1 mm.

Abstract: The invention relates to a process for the production of a multilayered composite element which comprises a layer of leather, a layer of a hard component formed from a polymer, which is bonded to the leather layer in certain areas, and a layer of a soft component, which is arranged between the leather component and the hard component, which comprises laying the leather against one mold surface of a mold, positioning the soft component on the leather, and molding the polymer acting as hard component onto the leather layer and the soft component layer at a pressure of at least 50 bar, preferably greater than 100 bar, in particular greater than 180 bar, and at a temperature of greater than 100° C., preferably from 180 to 280° C., in particular from 200 to 250° C., by bonding the leather and the hard component to one another in certain areas at least, with temperature of the mold surface of the mold being controlled, at least during the bonding. The invention furthermore relates to a composite element obtainable by the process. The composite element is extremely robust, has a soft touch surface and is inexpensive to produce.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for constructing a composite molding in which a support, a decorative part, and a foam coating are present, which comprises the following steps: 1. providing a mold with a sealable mold cavity, 2. providing a shaping support made from a material A, where A encompasses wood, metal, alloys, and thermoplastics, 3. providing a separable decorative part made from a material B, encompassing leather, textile, film or foil, paper, microfiber, or a combination of two or more of the materials mentioned, where the material has a frontal side which extends over a surface of the mold cavity, and an unencumbered reverse side, 4. placing the support into the mold, 5. spraying a coating made from foam-formers over the reverse side of the support, while the decorative part is in the mold cavity, 6. completing the reaction of the foam-formers, 7. closing the mold cavity and bringing the support sprayed with foam-formers into contact with the decorative part, and finally 8. demolding the composite molding.
