Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple process for producing an ester of α,β- monoethylenically unsad. mono- and dicarboxylic acids and a hydroxylated polycondensate. SOLUTION: An ester E having a low residual acid content is produced from α,β-monoethylenically unsatd. 3-6C mono- and dicarboxylic acids S and a hydroxylated polycondensate P by reacting the acids S with the polycondensate P or a monomer component and/or an oligomer component and/or a polymer component for producing the polycondensate P in the presence or absence of a solvent and/or an esterification catalyst and/or other additives while removing water formed by the reaction and then removing unreacted acids S by distillation. In the step of distillation, water is added to distillate the acids S.
