Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mixture of acrylic compounds or methacrylic compounds comprising 40-95 wt.% of epoxide (meth)acrylate based on the acrylic compounds or the methacrylic compounds. SOLUTION: A mixture is obtained by a method comprising the following steps: (a) esterifying a hydroxy compound using acrylic acid or methacrylic acid; (b) if necessary, adding additional acrylic acid or methacrylic acid; and (c) subsequently, reacting an excess amount of acrylic acid or methacrylic acid with epoxides in the presence of the esterified product obtained in the step (a).

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a coating material radiation-curable on substrates such as metal, leather and wood by mixing a water-dispersible polymer and a water- soluble compound each of which is radiation-curable and having α,β-ethylenic unsaturations with water in a specified ratio. SOLUTION: 5.0-90.0 wt.% water-dispersible polymer being radiation- polymerizable and having at least one α,β-ethylenic unsaturation (e.g. ester of an α,β-ethylenically unsaturated monocarboxylic acid with a hydroxyl- containing polycondensate) is mixed with 0.1-90 wt.% compound (e.g. aliphatic epoxide acrylate) being radiation-polymerizable, having at least one α,β-ethylenic unsaturtion and being water-soluble or capable of being diluted with at least 10 wt.%, based on the total weight of the material, water, at most 20 wt.% arbitrary photoinitiator, at most 60 wt.% filler, at most 20 wt.% additive and water. Thus, a high-solid-content coating material which requires no physical drying after application can be obtained.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for easily producing a (meth)acrylic ester by which a light color esterification product is obtained in high yield. SOLUTION: This method for producing a (meth)acrylic ester comprises esterifying acrylic acid and/or methacrylic acid with at least one compound having at least one alcoholic hydroxyl group while adding to the reaction system a hydrocarbon with a boiling point of 60-140 deg.C as a water azeotropic agent at 90-150 deg.C in the presence of an acidic esterification catalyst and a polymerization inhibitor, and after esterification, distilling the water azeotropic agent and excess (meth)acrylic acid off at 90-150 deg.C under a normal or reduced pressure, and if necessary, neutralizing the product obtained after distillation with at least one basic inorganic compound, wherein a copper (II) salt or a mixture composed of the copper (II) salt and a copper (I) salt to be deposited after esterification as a copper sulfide and separated is used as the polymerization inhibitor.

SOLUTION: This mixture is constructed from 10-90 wt. % condensation resin constructed from a urea (derivative) and an acidic-CH aldehyde or ketone and, optionally, HCHO, desirably comprising 50-100 wt.% acidic-CH aldehyde or ketone and 0-50 wt.% HCHO, constructed from an aldehyde or ketone (e.g. i-butylaldehyde) and desirably having a molar ratio of the urea (derivative) to the aldehyde or ketone of 1:4 to 1:10 and 90-10 wt. % radiation-curable compound desirably containing a polyester acrylate or a polyether acrylate having two or more, desirably, 2-20 (meth)acryloyl groups.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a coated product not generating while powder (ausbluehens) and not changing its strength and visual appearance with water by coating a molded product with a radiation-curable prepared product containing a polymer having ethylenic unsaturated double bonds and subsequently curing the coated product by the irradiation of UV light or electron beams. SOLUTION: The content of ethylenic unsaturated double bonds is usually 0.01-1.0 mole/100 g of polymer. The ethylenic unsaturated double bond is preferably a group of the formula: P-Z-X-CR =CHR [X is a single bond, CH2 or CO; Z is a single bond, O or NH; P is a 2-10C organic group or a single bond; R is H or methyl group; R is H, methyl group, phenyl group when X is CO or CO2 Y (Y is H or a 1-4C alkyl group)]. Silicones, polyurethanes, polyesters, polyethers, epoxy resins, melamine resins and methacrylate ester copolymers which have ethylenic unsaturated groups, respectively, are important as the polymer.
