Abstract: A process for the production of alkaline metal salts and earth alkali metal salts of aryloxy-C1-C4-alkane carboxylic acids by reacting the basic aryloxyC1-C4-alkane carboxylic acids with alkaline metal bases or earth alkali metal bases in the melt, by extruding a mixture of the aryloxy-C1-C4-alkane carboxylic acid and an at least stoichiometric quantity of an alkaline metal base or an earth alkali metal base, which are partially or completely converted in the reaction conditions into volatile substances. The invention also concerns the extrudates thus obtainable and the use of the extrudates which contain an aryloxy-C1-C4-alkane carboxylic acid with herbicidal action to combat undesired plant growth.

Abstract: A crystalline solid which has a sufficiently low hygroscopicity for processing and use and essentially consists of glycine-N,N-diacetic acid derivatives is prepared by adjusting the water content of the starting material containing the glycine-N,N-diacetic acid derivatives to a value of from 10 to 30% by weight, based on the starting material, and subsequently bringing about crystallization. .

Abstract: A process is disclosed for preparing solid, free-flowing water-soluble salts of aryloxy-C1-C4-alkane carboxylic acids. Aryloxy-C1-C4-alkane carboxylic acids are reacted with a salt-forming base. Salts are formed in the melt in the presence or absence of an entrainer suitable for causing azeotropic water separation or in a solution in the presence of an entrainer suitable for causing azeotropic water separation. The entrainer is removed from the reaction mixture during or after the reaction and the solid salts are then isolated in the usual manner.
