    Abstract: PURPOSE: To provide a computer system for the operation of a video and audio with high performance including a locked memory cartridge, audio, video, CD driver controller, and auxiliary processor. CONSTITUTION: This computer system is provided with a CPU with which at least one bus is related, and the bus is provided with at least one bus line. A readable memory, memory control circuit, lock control circuit, and connector are included in a cartridge 14, and they are all mutually connected. The memory, memory control circuit, and lock control circuit can be circuit-connected with the CPU so as to be attachable and detachable by using a connector. The memory control circuit scrambles one part of the bus line at the time of reset, scrambles data in the memory by this, and releases the scramble of the bus line in response to an input from the lock control circuit.

    Abstract: A computer system having four states of power management: a normal operating state, a standby state, a suspend state, and an off state. The standby state is characterized by devices, such as a video controller and a hard drive, being placed into a low-power mode transparent to the operating system and the applications executing on the computer system. The suspend state is characterized by executing code being interrupted and the state of the computer system being saved to a file on the hard drive in such a manner that system power may be removed after the state of the computer system is saved to the hard drive. Later, after system power is restored, the state of the computer system is resumed by reading from the hard drive and loading it in such a manner that the operating system and application programs are not adversely affected. The normal operating state and the off state correspond to the typical on and off states of more conventional computer systems. The suspend/resume/standby feature is implemented at a low cost using many standard components.

    Abstract: Disclosed is a video processor for processing first and second analog composite video signals and producing an output analog video signal. The video processor includes a video decoder and scaler for converting the second analog composite video signal to a reduced digital video signal. The video processor also includes a video encoder for converting the reduced digital video to a third analog composite video signal. Synchronization circuits are included for producing synchronization information for synchronizing the third analog composite video signal with the first analog composite video signal. The video processor further includes a composite video multiplexer for combining the first analog composite video signal with the third analog composite signal to produce the output analog composite video signal which is comprised of a portion of the first analog video signal and a portion of the third analog video signal.
