Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a computer system capable of blocking or suppressing infiltration of liquid from the surroundings of the computer system to an air vent without impairing design characteristics and without restricting its size or operations. SOLUTION: Frame-shaped coating films 7a, 7b are applied to the surroundings of the air vent 6. Wet characteristics of the coating films 7a, 7b and materials constituting a housing 3 are different from each other. For example, if contact angles of the coating films 7a, 7b against water are made larger than that of the materials constituting the housing 3, when a user spills water on outside of the coating film 7b, the water is prevented from flowing in the direction of the air vent 6 by the existence of the coating film 7b.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow a laser cover 13 whose freely separable part 17 has flexibility to turn a personal computer main body thickness part 11 and a digitizer thickness part 12 into a mutually overlapped state or a mutually opened state at the opposite side to a back middle part 15, and to accurately detect the overlapped state of the personal main body thickness part 11 and the digitizer thickness part 12 in spite of any deviation generated between the personal main body thickness part 11 and the digitizer thickness part 12 due to the arbitrary bending of the freely separable part 17. SOLUTION: A photosensor device 35 including an infrared radiator 40 and an infrared detector 41 is arranged at a personal computer main body thickness part 11. A flexible reflecting member 36 is attached to the prescribed face of a freely separable part 17 of a laser cover 13 so that a prescribed area is assured. When the personal computer main body thickness part 11 and the digitizer thickness part 12 are turned into an overlapped state, light radiated from the infrared radiator 40 is reflected on a flexible reflecting member 36, and falls on the infrared detector 41.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow a user to efficiently open a desired page of a sheet collection 63 in a digitizer 24 wherein the user sets the sheet collection 63 in a sheet collection set part 45, writes an arbitrary page of the sheet collection 63 by an input pen 25, and input data related to the written contents according to the page.
SOLUTION: A page turning side recess 57 is provided in a right side frame part 42 partitioning the right side part of the sheet collection set part 45. The page turning side recess 57 is provided with a slope 60 diagonally extending over the whole thickness of the sheet collection 63 in the thickness direction. The slope 60 is divided into multiple sections and each section is colored so as to be easily distinguished. The user decides which one of color sections 60a-60d corresponds to the desired height of the page and turns the sheet based on the decision.

The width of the transmission line pattern 108 around the connection pin 114 of the transmission line connector 106 is gradually changed toward the connection pin 114.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for controlling a computer and a cooling fan, capable of properly controlling a cooling fan for cooling a device mounted on an extended unit. SOLUTION: When a PCI clock 112 is supplied from a PC 12, a PCI adapter 102, an IED controller 104, and a PC card controller 106 of a docking station 96 are operated, and when the PC 12 is turned into a sleep mode, and the supply of the PCI clock is stopped, the PCI adapter 102, the IED controller 104, and the PC card controller 106 are stopped. When the PCI clock 112 is supplied, a drive signal for outputting circuit 124 outputs an operation signal to a cooling fan drive circuit 122, and when the PCI clock 112 is stopped, the drive signal outputting circuit 124 outputs a stop signal to the cooling fan drive circuit 122. The cooling fan drive circuit 122 is provided with a temperature sensor for detecting the temperature of a power source unit 114, and controls the on/off of a cooling fan 120, based on the detected temperature of the temperature sensor and an output signal from the drive signal outputting circuit 124.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To actively insert/eject a peripheral device for a computer to/from a bus line of the computer. SOLUTION: A bus switch 60 opens/closes bus lines 16a, 16b. A bus switch control circuit 61 generates a bus switch control signal responding to a turn-around cycle from a signal of a bus line 16a and supplies the control signal to the switch 60 through lines 305 to 311. The switch 60 executes opening/closing operation in response to the bus switch control signal. Since the bus line 16a is in a turn-around cycle at the time of connecting or releasing the bus lines 16a, 16b, the influence of noise due to the opening/closing of the bus line 16a/16b is not exerted upon bus cycle operation.

Then the user of a computer can recognize the execution of WOL or trial of execution is performed without starting any application for reporting the execution of WOL on the computer or even without connecting the computer to the connection unit.
