    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wavelength division multiplex switch network. SOLUTION: Switch modules (102) of this invention are interconnected via optical links (104) to form an exchange system (100). By using different wavelengths of the optical links (104), communication is selected between the switch modules. The wavelength is assigned for communication between the switch modules constantly or variably. The wavelength is subjected to time division multiplex processing or divided further in partial wavelength. The switch modules are communicated by selectively transmitting/receiving the wavelengths assigned to the optical links.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently process a client with the high frequency of utilization while surely providing prescribed services to all the clients. SOLUTION: The existence of data call to generate a line with the high frequency of utilization is detected by detecting a response signal (301), testing the signal of tone or the like on the node of that call later (311) and investigating whether the duration of that call exceeds prescribed time or not (315). The line for transmitting or receiving the data call exceeding the prescribed time is monitored for next measuring its frequency of utilization. As a result, the line with the high frequency of utilization can be detected by monitoring only the comparatively less lines for transmitting or receiving the data call.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system that automatically reassigns an echo canceler to another facility in the case that it is decided that a facility to which the echo canceler has been assigned does not generate vast profit from echo cancelation. SOLUTION: The echo canceling system provided with self-deactivation processing of this invention includes an echo canceler and an echo detector employing an adaptive filter. The adaptive filter decodes an estimate value of an echo signal in existence in an unprocessed signal received from a near-end of a communication channel. The echo detector compares the energy of the unprocessed received signal with the energy of the received signal whose echo is canceled. When the difference is high, the echo canceler is left as active. The difference, that is, the estimated echo energy is small, the echo canceler is deactivated and the echo detector selects the unprocessed received signal as its output. In the case that a plurality of channels for echo cancelation is to be served, the deactivated echo canceler is reassigned to serve for another communication channel.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a remote call direction revision system placed in the inside of a local access network that sets the direction of a data traffic addressed to the internet to a channel directly connecting to the internet. SOLUTION: This call direction revision system has a processing module 134 accessing stored data for receiving protocol information ancillary to a call by a subscriber's equipment. The processing module 134 generates a direction setting message, based on the protocol information and stored data. The call direction revision system is further provided with a direction setting module 136, configured to change the direction of the call from the subscriber's equipment. The direction setting module 136 receives a direction setting message from the processing module 134 and changes the direction of a call to reduce congestion, in compliance with the direction setting message, then the device in the local access network adjusts the call whose direction is changed. Thus, congestion in the inside of the local access network resulting from the data traffic addressed to the internet is reduced.

When a prescribed time passed, a packet data network 190, i.e., a different network decides the establishment of a voice path between the calling and called sides and transmits a message to perform a call setting operation. Thus, the common channel signal message is delayed to establish a voice path before a call setting process is executed. As a result, the call setting operation is surely attained between the different electric communication network.

The packet assembled or inversely assembled by the RAM 211 is changed so as to have a data address by a routing processor 213 and stored in a TSI start interface 105. Thus, the ATM network is directly interfaced while using the ATM interface 221.
