    Abstract: PURPOSE:To optically measure a biological organism dealing with the light quantity over a wide range, to relatively shorten the measuring time, and to realize a small size and a low cost. CONSTITUTION:Pulses of light from a light source 22 are emitted toward a specimen 28 to be detected, and a diffused transmitted reflected light to be emitted from the position separated from a light emitting point is received by a photomultiplier 32. The photomultiplier 32 is driven by a gate signal synchronized with the irradiation light, and the signal is set to shorter than the interval T of the irradiation light pulse train, delayed, and the delay is sequentially varied. The signal of the photomultiplier 32 is integrated by an integrator 44 via a preamplifier 40, and fetched, and the integrated signal is sequentially changed between 0 to T to the light propagating waveform.

These detection signals I1, I2 are converted to logarithms and a DELTAy calculating means calculates DELTAy by DELTAy=ln(I1/ I2). An m(lambda) calculating means determines m(lambda) as m(lambda)=p.DELTAy +q.DELTAy+r(p, q, r are coeffts.). A component concn. calculating means determines the component concns. xi of the respective measurement components (i) as the solution of an equation including m(lambda) for plural wavelengths lambda.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To heighten measuring precision and lessen errors at the time when a sectional image is reconstituted. CONSTITUTION:A probe 6 receiving transmission scattered light from an object to be measured is supported with a support member 12, which is guided to a guide 14 in order to be moved in the direction of the object to be measured and the probe 6 is advanced and moved by the rotation of a feed screw 16 in the direction of Z. A rotary encoder 20 is provided on a stepping motor 18 for rotating the feed screw 16 and a moving quantity of the probe 6 is detected from its rotating speed. A contact sensitive sensor 22 is provided on the edge of the probe 6. The stepping motor 18 is rotated until the contact sensitive sensor 22 comes into contact with the object to be measured and the number of pulses of pulse signals output from the rotary encoder 20 is continued to be counted in the meantime. When the contact sensitive sensor 22 is brought into contact with the object to be measured, the rotation of the stepping motor 18 is stopped and a movement distance is calculated from the counted number of output signal pulses of the rotary encoder 20.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To reconstitute a tomographic image with high resolution even when the size of samples varies by making the distance between a radiation source and rotational center variable so that the measuring extent can become an irreducible minimum for completely encircling the sample. CONSTITUTION:A gantry section 2 is supported rotatably around a center O and rotated by a motor 4. A frame-like movable member 8 is supported by guide members 10 and 12 fixed to the gantry section 2 so that the member 8 can make linear movement along the gantry section 2. A gear 18 is engaged with a rack 16 fitted to the member 8 and, when the gear 18 is driven by a motor 14, the member 8 moves in the direction shown by the arrow 20. A radiation source 24 is fitted to the member 8 and a detector 26 is provided on the opposite side of the center O. The member 8 is moved by actuating the motor 14 so as to make the measuring extent sufficient to encircle a sample 22 completely in accordance with the size of the sample 22 provided at the position of the center O. When the radiation source 24 is positioned, the measurement is performed by detecting the beams emitted from the source 24 with the detecting section 26 while the gantry section 2 is rotated.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain data on the concentration of an absorbent contained in a subject without measuring the intensity of incident light. SOLUTION: Fine laser beams are irradiated from a laser beam irradiation device 10 to a subject 71, and the beams transmitted through the subject 71 and outgoing therefrom are made incident on a solid image pickup element 12. At the same time, the beams are scanned, and picture element data along an optical axis obtainable from a solid image pickup element 12 as well as picture element group data around the optical axis are stored in an image processing memory 17 via an image collection memory 14. Also, an absorbance difference is obtained from the two types of data with a CPU 18, thereby calculating data on the concentration of an absorbent contained in the subject 71.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform measurement at a plurality of wavelengths and measuring points without any time deviation and using a single detector and a single TAC. SOLUTION: An oscillation signal from an oscillator 4 is simultaneously supplied to semiconductor lasers 2-1 and 2-2 with different oscillation wavelengths but one coaxial cable 5-2 is longer and has a delay element 30. Laser pulse beams oscillated from both semiconductor lasers 2-1 and 2-2 are guided to a specimen 8 by optical fibers 3-1 and 3-2, respectively, pulse beams through the specimen 8 are detected by a detector 10, and time until photo is detected by the detector 10 is outputted as a voltage and integrated by a TAC 14. The obtained integral waveform by the semiconductor laser 2-1 and that by the semiconductor laser 2-2 are separated as shown in (a) and waveforms for a plurality of light sources can be measured without any time deviation.
