Abstract: A composition comprising a thermoplastic and a CO 2 releasing material; wherein the CO 2 releasing material comprises: a) a carbon and oxygen containing salt of an alkali or alkaline earth metal; and b) an acid; the CO 2 releasing material has a sufficient amount and ratio of the carbon and oxygen containing salt of the alkali or alkaline earth metal and the acid so that, in the presence of water, the CO 2 releasing material reacts to release CO 2 gas through the thermoplastic into a surrounding environment.

Abstract: A high internal phase emulsion composition comprising: a) at least three components; b) component A is a polymer, monomer or mixture thereof; c) component B is a polymer; d) component C is a compatiblizer; e) substantiall y no voids; and wherein the volume fraction of component A represents at least about 80 % by volume of the total volume of components A, B and C; and where in the volume fraction of component B represents less than about 20 % by volume of the total volume of components A, B and C; and wherein at least two phase s are formed, a phase containing a majority of component A is discrete and a phase containing a majority of component B is continuous.

It may provide a barrier, and/or it may exhibit permeability.

Abstract: Disclosed are antimicrobial releasing agents, methods of preparing the antimicrobial releasing agents, and entrained polymers containing antimicrobial releasing agents.
