The suspensions may also contain cellulose fibres. Examples describe the preparation of paper-like products from aqueous suspensions of equal weights of sulphite cellulose fibres and polyethylene fibrids prepared using urea/formaldehyde/sodium phenol sulphonate polycondensate, urea/formaldehyde polycondensate modified with sodium bisulphite, sodium salt of carboxymethyl cellulose, ammonium salt of maleic acid/vinyl isobutyl ether copolymer or ammonium salt of acrylic acid/styrene copolyer; and from 70/30 50/50 and 30/70 mixtures using the above protective colloids or formaldehyde/sodium #-naphthalene sulphonate condensate.

[Also in Division B5] A covering for playing fields consists of two layers, each of thickness 3-10 mm. and having on one side only parallel ribs, of height 1-5mm. and cross-sectional area 2-25 mm 2 , and spaced at 5-20mm., arranged with ribbed faces in contact with the ribs of one layer at 45‹-90‹ to the ribs of the other; each layer comprises a mixture of 100 parts by wt. bitumen, 50-120 parts by ethylene polymer and optionally up to 100 parts by wt. filler, which mixture has a mean elongation of 400-800% and a modulus of elasticity of 60-100 kg./cm 2 . The ribs may be of semicircular, square, hemielliptical part-circular, part-elliptical, rectangular or swallowtailed section. Each layer may have a different composition and thickness, e.g. the upper layer may contain a filler while the lower layer contains no filler. The ethylene polymer may be copoly (ethylene/n-butyl acrylate). The layers may be moulded at 200-280‹C or extruded at 100-160‹C and bonded by adhesive or by fusion.

    Abstract: The invention relates to a continuous process for preparing aminoplastics and/or phenolics, in which a precondensate solution is prepared in a first extruder (14), the precondensate solution is continuously fed, with addition of additives, to a second extruder (20) with partial filling in the feed section (E) and devolatilization section (G), devolatilized in the second extruder (20) and then formed to give a molding composition or an end product. The process is particularly suitable for preparing melamine resins, in particular melamine-formaldehyde resins, as well as for preparing urea-formaldehyde resins.

    Abstract: A process is disclosed for producing filaments from a hydroxy- or aminoalkylmelamine-modified melamine/formaldehyde condensation product. The highly concentrated aqueous solution of a melamine/formaldehyde condensation product is filtered, extruded through a spinning nozzle, the extruded threads are dried in a dry shaft by means of hot air, and the dried threads are processed in a tempering furnace at temperatures that rise progressively up to a maximum temperature from 160 to 250 DEG C, thus hardening the pre-condensed product.
